ESPN just ran a segment about Nascars new drug policy starting in the 2009 season. Drivers, crew, and officials will be subject to random drug testing. 3 strikes and banned for life.
But NA$CAR has said it won't provide a list of banned substances. There are many OTC and prescription medications that can cause positive results. Eating a bagel with poppy seeds can give a positive result for opium derivatives, proven by various tests. I'm on a steroidal med for COPD that gives a positive result. Before implementing this program they should at least have a list of banned substances and allow those meds approved by a doc with a valid script.
