I had decided not to buy a new computer and put the money I had set aside for it on kitchen cabinets. My wife said she didn't want cabinets until next year so I said "screw it" and bought the Dell I had been eyeing for the last week or so. I tried to go on to Dell.com and buy the one they had on special but it was $100 more than it was the last time I looked (which was like 2 days ago!). From Dell the one with the Pentium 4 was $699 after shipping. I bought a brand new one off of ebay for $415. Even after shipping and a small charge to upgrade to double the memory I will still be over $150 less than Dell wanted for the exact same computer. And it comes with the warranty.

Ebay has Dell authorised resellers? Sure it wasn't refurbished?

Actually yeah they do. I checked it out first. There are actually quite a few of these authorized resellers. The warranty transfers from seller when you purchase it. And yes, they are brand new.

From Dell's forums...

"In order to submit an ownership transfer, you will need the original owners name and invoice (order) number as well as the service tag number."

Did you email the seller and ask them for a service tag and invoice number so that you could contact Dell and have them run it thru their database?

I hope you make out okay but for $150, I wouldn't trust my card number or the potential problems with Ebay sellers.
