Boy, did Denny Hamlin's CC screw him out of win last night.

Leaving him out, lap after lap, hoping for a caution. Carl just ate him up.

Denny didn't lose the race --- his CC lost it.

Who would have thought that just 2 tires would have that much of a difference. When Carl came out he was over 2 seconds behind Denny. He quickly ran him down and finished almost 6 seconds ahead of him. With the tire compounds this year that is a rarity.

yea, judging by what he said on NOL, I'm thinking he isn't exactly happy with his CC either.

If a caution had come out, it would have been the call of the century. It's a gamble, and you never know how the cards are gonna fall.
:lurk:

For sure. 20/20 hindsight is always easy.

A little harsh for a thread title, when it was just a strategy call. Ya never know till it happens.

Bucky, your comment was a bit harsh!

I totally agree with TRL, even tho I sure don't mind Carl winning.

Bucky, I intended it to be harsh. After 2 or 3 laps, seeing how fast Carl was closing the gap, should have set off an alarm bell in Denny's CC.

Yes, you win with some calls, you lose with some calls, but the bottom line --- the call to wait was the wrong one.

When I saw the thread title of Dumb and Dumber, I thought this was about Paul Tracy. :D

He's trying to be the new Tony. Nobody dare to get in his way.

It's one thing to wreck people when racing. It's another thing to pull out in front of another car. I've seen a lot of racing over the years in all types of racing. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

MRM, it was a good thing that it was re-played several times --- because I couldn't believe my eyes the first time.

I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.

And the punch throwing a bit later --- shades of the Allisons and Cale. hehehe

I musta missed that. I just saw the last 20 or so laps & then went back outside. What happened & with who ???

PT ran off the course in a runoff area, turned around and stupidly drove back on the course in front of Alex Tagliani. PT could see Tag, Tag was blinded by a barrier. He didn't have a chance. Both were knocked out of the race. PT deserved much more than a cut on the forehead. Shouldn't have taken his helmet off <g>

Doubt the story is finished yet.

i'm guessing that wasn't the nascar race?

isn't it the general rule of racing safety crew to not get between 2 fighting drivers, wether they have helmets or not, until they both go to the ground?

well in mexico city when the sportscars ran the saturday before the busch cars, they had a fight and the comentator said that the officials there are orders not to get between them until they hit the ground

Key words...."in Mexico City"............Never seen nascar officials NOT get between drivers before and during an altercation.
