FOX Sports and Darrell Waltrip have agreed upon a multi-year contract extension that expands the top-rated NASCAR network's relationship with the sport's premier analyst into the new television rights contract that commences with the 2007 season. The announcement was made today by FOX Sports Chairman David Hill and FOX Sports President Ed Goren. "I love FOX Sports," said Waltrip. "I love being part of a big sports family. David Hill and Ed Goren have embraced me. I have said it before, it's like being part of a championship race team. They have surrounded me with the best of the best - Jeff, Larry, Mike, Steve and all the others. Plus, FOX also has the best folks that work behind the scenes. I love my job and now I get to do it for a long, long time!" Prior to joining FOX Sports in 2001, legendary stock car driver Darrell Waltrip compiled 84 wins and three Cup series championships in an outstanding NASCAR career. He was voted the Most Popular Driver twice (1989-90) and was the proud recipient of the prestigious Bill France Award of Excellence in 2000, honoring his lifetime of achievements. In 2003, Waltrip was elected into the National Motorsports Hall of Fame, an honor followed by an induction into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2005. In 2004, Waltrip's autobiography, DW: A lifetime Going Around in Circles, debuted on the New York Times Bestseller list. FOX Sports drops the green flag on its 2006 NASCAR on FOX season this Sunday, Feb. 26 (3:30pm/et) in Fontana, CA, with a live presentation of the Auto Club 500. Over 60 cameras and 100 microphones will be strategically placed in and around California Speedway as NASCAR on FOX presents the first of 14 Nextel Cup races in high definition and Dolby 5.1 audio. In 12 years of existence, FOX Sports has earned 63 Emmy Awards, including six in five years of NASCAR coverage, more than any other network during the same stretch of time. David Hill and Ed Goren are the Executive Producers of FOX Sports. Bill Brown is Senior Producer. Scott Ackerson is the Coordinating Producer of the NASCAR on FOX Prerace show.(FoxSports PR)(2-23-2006)

fox is good for one thing.....NFL...hammond needs to stay out of the tanning bed...MacMurray needs to go to English class....and dw just needs to shut up.

I believe you mean Larry MacReynolds. Hey, that's charactor and it's something that is a part of the sport...for the time being that is.

HA...yea buck i did.......wow....im so used to him saying MacMurray...that i freakin said it...HA..wow.....here's my sign!

i can handle Larry sometimes....but i wish he would stop yelling every lap like its the last one.

DW is a plague in the broadcast booth. Michael is brother is ten times worse. There was a thought when Peter Benchley passed away they would settle down but it doesn't look good.

FOX network can't get it right in news and they can't get it right with broadcasters.
As I get older I find some days are good and some days are bad.
Used to be a time when it was fun to look forward to a NASCAR race on television.
Now, when FOX broadcasts a NASCAR race with DW in the booth, it starts as a bad day.
Actually, it wouldn't be such a bad day with Darrell in the booth if he would just shut up !!!!!!!!

Hmmmm, now we're turning this into something political and don't say that you aren't Whiz when you mentioned FOX news. We all know what you meant about that so don't play dumb. Let's leave the political crap down below where it belongs. As for who is in their booth, I like what FOX does. They began this sort of treatment in the sporting events with the NFL and though there are the minions who hate it, there are plenty more who like it. Just like Daytona and Taladega, the plate races. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

While we're talking about TV announcers, let's all have a moment of silence for the late Curt Goudy. The sporting world has lost a great voice.

GEEZE Buck !!! I thought this was about DW !!!!!!
Plus, my personal observations on FOX in general.
They suck !!!!!
But like FOX sez in thier ads, "you decide" !!!!! So I did !!!

Further comments re: FOX network taken at the podium.
Unless they relate to "the mouth that roared" then post them here. :)

Benny Parsons is the one guilty for MAC MARY...He is on the nbc side.

Hate to break it to you Whizzer but Fox News is the highest rated cable news network. The sports division likes DW because he has personality, like it or hate it, he has it. It's similiar to Monday night football, you need someone to keep things going when you have a bad game/race. Many people couldn't stand Howard Cosell but they tuned in to see what he would say anyway. It's all about ratings.
It doesn't matter to the veteran Nascar fans who tune in regardless of the commentators but it does help picking up and keeping new fans. For someone seeing a Nascar telecast for the first time DW is much more entertaining than Benny or Wally. Nothing against the two former but they are very bland when compared to DW.

I enjoy DW, Fox News, and NASCAR. Its a happy time of year for me.
