Dale Earnhardt and Tim Richmond. Now there were two guys who could whip a car around the track, putting it on what they call the ragged edge. Since forever, there's been the argument of who was better. While we will never again see these two guys perform, it's clear that both of them could drive circles around other drivers with a loose car on bias ply tires. Tim never got to drive a stock car with radial tires so we will never know how he would have done with them. It took Dale a year to learn the ropes of the radial tire, and he never looked back after that. But the era of the bias tire was one that was very exciting at the track, to say the least. Wouldn't it be a hoot if NASCAR went back to those days of bias ply tires. Think of what might happen. All that expensive equipment that fine tunes these cars would have to be thrown out. Hmmmm, now wouldn't that make the sport cheaper? :hyper:

Yes sir buckaroo,But that would happen about the time monkeys fly out my keester.:p

itd be fun to watch again...............but it'll never happen

I remember that..........and I remember Dale griping about those damned radials too!! I hated when they changed........but, heck I forgot I hated them once Dale got past it!!:)

Buckaroo,You aren't kin to Awesome Bill are you?By the way,What ever happened to him? :)

I've got some of those old races on tape. Love watching that right rear smoke like the devil. Running up near the wall at Bristol, before concrete. Hanging it all out at Wilkesboro.

*sigh*
