Easy fix to every drivers whining about fuel racin

Softer tires. Period. Goodyear and NASCAR had better make sure that this easy solution does not get tossed on the back burner during the off season. Make it so that tires will not last worth a damn after 40-50 laps. Do you think that a fuel mileage race would ever pan out at Darlington? Make it happen.

And Nascar and Goodyear are in talks for a softer tire next year.

N2 is right, as long tires last longer than a tank of fuel we will see fuel milage races.
Bring back the days when 95% of the time the fastest car one the race.

agreed:)

but NA$CAR will probally go to nuclear fuel cells to fix the problem (and only make it worse, like 100% of the problems they try and fix)

So would ya'll rather see tires blow out and cars hit the wall instead?

You can't have it both way ya know?

I am for the softer tires. It's racing, it's not supposed to be a contest to see who can stay out there the longest on fuel and tires. And you are right 71fan, soft tires does mean the chance of more blow outs. There are always going to be wrecks in racing, we just have to hope that the drivers make it out okay.

Well it's just a buy off DeeDee. Grab an edge somewhere, lose it somewhere else. The good ol short pit in a new form.

And even with softer tires, if I choose not to stop to get them I'm still out front. Bummer is that if I gamble and lose on gas it's no big deal but if I gamble on tires and lose I'm in the wall.

If you know the tires are wearing and giving up a couple of seconds a lap you're not going to gamble and stay out anyway, you are going to get tires every chance you get.

What about the tyre rule. Teams are only allowed to run so many sets a weekend, and with softer tyres, more stops, we would go through them faster. I say forget softer tyres. What they need is for Goodyear to get their heads outta their butts and make more consistant tyres so people that qualify on pole or dominate a race, actually win it, rather than get a set of "bad" tyres and fall way back. I heard Tony Stewart talking about how his team runs every set of tyres they have to understand their characteristics, so when the race rolls around, they know what adjustments need to be made to make up for each set they put on. Thats pretty bad when you have to set up your car around a set of tyres.

Mabey the other teams should figure out how to save fuel. The #12 team is SMART enough to figure out how to win. Don't go out and change the tires just so the fastest car can win, make the other teams think a little harder. For example the point system: #17 was so far ahead so people want to change the system, and now the tires.
Oh I just watched the tape again, and I saw a water bottle go into the car, there was probably a quart of fuel in there and Ryan had a little connector it hooks into it. I'm all for changes if it's for saftey not for being smarter. Mabey i'm way off base here but thats how I feel. Feel free to throw eggs at me now!

We're not talking about learning how to win races but making them a little more exciting by taking fuel milage out of the question every week.

Right, but what happened to the days of "Run what you brung and hope you brung enough"? I for one would have loved to see Ryan and Bill race for the win, and not watch Ryan or Bill or Jeremy save fuel.
