Must be hard being a DEI fan.
Puting words on my screen again? Never said that anyone in NASCAR cheats. Never said that DEI doesn't. But how does the old saying go......It ain't cheatin if you haven't been caught...or something like that.Originally posted by paul@Apr 5 2003, 04:46 PM
Keep those eyes closed real tight!
No one's every cheated in NASCAR huh fergy?
Didn't I just say that?Originally posted by paul@Apr 5 2003, 04:54 PM
Why is that so hard for you to imagine?
It can be cheating, and it can be cheating without them being caught.
you mean to Chance2 don't ya?...Originally posted by Highboy90@Apr 5 2003, 05:55 PM
Give another one to DEI.
Smokey never cheated...he knew the rules & knew how to make the rules work for him. Before they limited the length of gas line from the gas tank to the carb, he was the one that ran it back & forth the length of the car to get the extra gallon of gas.Originally posted by fergy1370@Apr 5 2003, 04:02 PM
I was trying to come up with the saying that has been said, maybe Smokey Yunick said it...can't remember.
Everybody knows that every team in NASCAR tries to get around the rules. But to think that NASCAR lets a certain team get by on stuff is kind of ridiculous.
Its funny that anytime DEI wins, its because NASCAR let them. When Rousch wins, its because of the driver or the equipment or some other reason.
How's it cheating? There was no rule against it? I'd call that genius. Notice they changed the rule AFTER that.Originally posted by Mopardh9@Apr 5 2003, 11:34 PM
Yeh if you say so, how do figure running extra fule line wasn't cheating? Didn't they change the rule after they found out Smokey was doing that? What i meant by my previous statement was that they all bend the rules.....they have to or they might as well pack it up on the trailer and go home.
Not sure I said Ryan was cheating? Just said I think he may have gotten away with one. The car was 40-45 pounds underweight at Texas. Water weighs 8.3 lbs per gallon. 45 divided by 8.3 = 5.42 gallons. I'm not positive what the capacity of the cooling system of a Winston Cup car is but if you look at Jeff Gordon's site it says it's 14 quarts...14 quarts = 3 1/2 gallons.Originally posted by Mopardh9@Apr 5 2003, 11:50 PM
How do you figure Newman was cheating? There was no rule against it in Smokeys' case , but they created one as soon as they found out what he was doing .....so in actuallity they did it because he" bent" the rules...same thing as cheating only in a differnt context.
Lucky it didn't look like 'Old Faithful' going down the straight away either! :lol:Originally posted by Mopardh9@Apr 6 2003, 12:02 AM
They filled up his car with all the required fluids, which they are mandated by the rules to do and he passed post race inspection. Cars are weighed full of fuel, oil, and water. His radiator had a leak the last few laps and ran dry , luckily he didn't fry the engine
