Spent three days biding on a dirt car chassis this last week only to have someone new come in and bid against me in the last 10 minutes. He up'ed my bid and as I was making the last key stroke to raise, the auction ended. He got the chassis for $450.

We made up for it today. Went to Charlotte, for a racers auction, and got a Roy Allen Chassis for $200. We'll cut the front off next week and graft a Nova Front stub under it and start building a Thunder and Lighting car for this next year. This will give us something to play with when we're not racing the Vintage cars.

NVRA........get lessons from cutie on how to bid on eBay!! She's figured out how to do exactly what happened to you!!:)

There's several things I would like to know about thier bidding process. Even though it worked out for the better this time.

Bid were in $5 increments but one guy jumped in with a $5.99 bid. I didn't understand why.

The trick is that you can watch the bid and be adviced via email when you get out bidded. She can tell you more, but she usually establishes her max bid when she first bids.........doesn't bid the max but then she just watches it until maybe the last few minutes. Bids her max and usually gets it.:) Of course if the item is already above your max you either have to increase your max or let it go.

I always set my max bid too, it's called proxy bidding. They record your max bid and will bid for you up to that point. If I lose something I wait till about 3 or 4 min left and bid higher. And I set my max bid at something like 12.89, that way it throws some off. I have lost some bids but have gotten some good deals to. I love vintage things and find lots on there. Keep trying you'll get the hang of it in no time.:)

Seller's almost always make out on ebay. I've sold several guitars for almost as much as I paid for them new, if not more. But, I've made some great buys too. It is really good for rare items especially.

I've got some antique firearms but don't see where they can be posted on eBay. Anybody Know where they can be listed. These are for serious collectors, worth several grand each.

I'm not sure they can be. There is a link on ebay's home page for "live help". They are usually very helpful for things like that. I've used it several times and it works great. You should try that.
