Chad Norris has been named crew chief of the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford and driver Carl Edwards.

Norris replaces Bob Osborne, who is stepping down due to health reasons.

Osborne has been a Cup crew chief with Roush Fenway Racing since he led the No. 99 Ford and Jeff Burton at the fifth race of the 2004 season. Edwards replaced Burton for the final 13 races of the season.

Full story here.

Osborne has been a little off this year. I hope it's nothing serious.

After last week, it was obvious they needed to change something. It looks like RFR will have 2 cars in the chase this year while Carl and Chuck....err, Chad get set up for next year.

If Carl can bonce back and get a win, they will be in a good position to make the chase as a wild card.

Best wishes for Bob Osborne

Best wishes for Bob Osborne

Breaking in a new CC will make that a huge longshot, IMO. But the Roush cars are running real good, so it could happen.

Chad Norris isn't exactly a newbie, he'll hit the ground running.

Best wish's to Bob Osborne.

Maybe Chad and Carl can hit on something and turn the season around. He's 11th in points and a win would certainly spice up that wildcard spot. I think Chad Norris is a good fit for Carl. Hope it's nothing serious for Bob.

Something had to happen, maybe thats it, good health Osborne.

I just saw this reported.

When we go to Indy, 39 of 43 teams will have diff. combo of driver/c.c./team than they had at Daytona 500 in 2010, 29 months ago.

I don't have the time to do the necessary homework to verify that but if it's true, that's amazing IMO.

Wow! Sounds like it would be easier to Identify the teams that still have the same CC/Driver Combo.

A year ago, Edwards got a lucrative new contract that included hefty stock options from Ford. Missing Chase is not what's expected.

Eating lunch when I read the first sentence, thought it said Chuck Norris. Maybe they should go ahead and make that change:D

If Carl wasn't toast already, he is now. I hope he uses a patented Hamlin-Grubb decoder ring to communicate with Chuck.

Could Jack have written off the 99 already? Is he using the O-Brain power of Osborne to get the 17-16 to the champion circle of awesomeness????

Ask me after Indy, I will FF through that one too.... Newhampshire and Indy, good napping or get something done races.

I think the others are the 39, 1, and 18.
Drum roll please.................................

If you go back to the 2010 Daytona 500 — less than 2 ½ years ago — there are only four driver/crew chief/team combinations that are still intact:

Jamie McMurray and Bono Manion at the No. 1 Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Chevrolet;

Kyle Busch and Dave Rogers at the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota;

Ryan Newman and Tony Gibson at the No. 39 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet; and

Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus at the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

Congrats MRM! For all of your time and effort in your answer, you've been determined to be correct. For your efforts you've now been awarded the satisfaction of knowing that you were correct but that's about it. :)

Very good article on recent crew chief changes can be found here.
