FASTENAL TO SPONSOR CARL EDWARDS IN NATIONWIDE SERIES BEGINNING IN 2010

Concord, N.C. (August 24, 2009) - Roush Fenway Racing announced that they have signed Fastenal to a multi-year contract to sponsor Carl Edwards in the Nationwide Series beginning in 2010. Fastenal, North America’s largest fastener distributor and one of the world’s fastest-growing full-line industrial suppliers, will appear on the No.
60 Ford for 15 races in 2010. As a long-time Fastenal customer, Edwards is looking forward to representing the brand.

"I'm really excited about the partnership with Fastenal,” said Edwards. “It's special to me, because in 1999 the local Fastenal store in Columbia, Missouri was nice enough to let me bring in one of my first sponsorship proposals that I had ever given to anyone. They met with me and they treated me like a professional and I worked out a sponsorship deal with them. I used their storage bins, fasteners, drill bits and rivets for years on all my dirt cars. We won two track championships. I was really proud of that first sponsorship and I am proud to be back with them in the Nationwide Series. That's going to be neat."

Edwards, the 2007 Nationwide Series champion, has posted 22 career Nationwide wins since 2005 and is eagerly anticipating his sixth full-time season in the Nationwide Series next year. The partnership will kick off at Daytona in February of 2010 when the Nationwide Series visits the 2.5-mile tri-oval for the season opener.

“Fastenal is proud to sponsor Carl Edwards and the No. 60 team beginning in 2010,” said Cory Jansen, executive vice president marketing of Fastenal. “Carl’s on-track success and longstanding support of Fastenal makes him the perfect representative for our brand.
We are looking forward to an exciting championship run with Carl and the entire No. 60 Fastenal team next year.”

Bad news for Busch series regulars.

I think Carl and Shrub both should back down on the series, and focus on the Cup. I think they are getting wore down, even at their young ages. Both have had lackluster Cup years this year as compared to last.

At least Bucsh is running a more limited NNS schedule next year.

Maybe a title in the Nationwide is more important to them. It just could be the only title they win. Take a look at how many drivers that have won the Busch/Nationwide title only to fail to win the Cup.

I feel that if you're running a full Cup schedule, you shouldn't get points for running in the Nationwide series. That's just taking points away from the series regulars.

not to mention the money. those guys don't make cup money and the less you make the more you pay attention to those little details.

Like I've said for years now, this won't end until NASCAR puts an end to it.

The sponsors would rather sponsor a Cup driver in NW because it's not as expensive and they know Carl Edwards is more likely to win a race than John Wes Townley. The big Cup teams want their Cup stars front and center in Nationwide so they can have another trophy. And the drivers won't stop because it's an easy win.

If they're in the top 35 in Cup points or have won in Spitcup that season, limit them to 5 NNS and 5 CTWS per regular season that way they can show up to put some fans in stands.

2001 and 2006 were the best seasons of Harvick's career, win-tally wise, in Spitcup. :idunno:
