From Dustin Long.....

Talladega is coming. Only two weeks away, the biggest wildcard in the Chase is coming and everyone knows it could shake up the points dramatically with its wild, random racing.

Several drivers were asked about Talladega on Thursday at Charlotte Motor Speedway but Carl Edwards had a unique answer when asked what he thinks about the upcoming race there.

This is what he said:

"Points should not be awarded at Talladega. In a fair competition they shouldn't be because it's so random. It's just a treacherous race. Now, since there are points awarded, it adds a whole level of stress to the race. You drive around and if you're doing really well in the points, every lap your heart is pounding and you're just trying to predict any wrecks that might happen and the best way to avoid them. I guess in a guy's position like myself, the reasons that I don't like it when I'm running well in the points are the same reasons that I look forward to it now.''

Are you kidding me Carl? No points for Talladega. What do you think?

If they can reshuffle the deck at the start of the race, they can do it here too.

Carl should wrap kerosine rags around his ankles so the ants won't climb up and eat his candy azz.

My favorite Sr quote, paraphased.:D:D:beerbang:

LOL suck it up....this Nascar , the big leagues, what a wuss.:)

Well maybe he'd like it better if he didn't keep being the cause of big ones.:D

I think his point is that driver skill doesn't matter there, since it's just a crapshoot, so why give point?

Skill doesn't matter? You're kidding right? Maybe Carl needs to sit down and take a long look at the winners of past races then. It reads like a laundry list of future HOF inductees.

At this track it's just a lottery of who survived the big one.

For Carl that's certainly true. Maybe Carl's problem with that type of racing is simply that Carl doesn't fare to well @ Talladega or Daytona. Carl has an average finish of 22.5 @ Talladega and 17.7 @ Daytona. He's only led 15 laps in 12 races @ Talladega, 3 in 12 @ Daytona. Whatever his issues are with that type of racing it seems foolish to state that points shouldn't be awarded at Talladega. JMHO.

Here's a thought. Kind of like they do in Olympics scoring. At the end of the chase, take away the highest points finish and the lowest points finish.

You know what we all ***** about this, there is nothing we can do about it.
Either we watch or we don't, it's that simple. Nascar will tweak it next season and we will complain some more. I'll watch some laps, but when there is a Pats game vs Nascar, the Pats will win out every time. Sorry Nascar I'm not a die hard fan of Cup anymore.

also its a 4:15 game for them that day:D

Carls just scared because a real man, like Brad might take him out for the win....:D

This reminds me of those time when someone would suggest "Hey, let's not keep points, let's just play for fun!" We'd laugh at him/her and play for points anyways.

Carl is such a girl

Yeah, but he doesn't think so....
