Edwards v. PE

I just wanted to mention that while all these other drivers are acting like hotheaded children, it was nice to see Kyle Petty really acting like a veteran and TALKING to carl edwards about it...he had his hand on his shoulder, calming him down. Now, first and foremost, my heart goes out to Kyle for everything he's been through and I respect the man and his family for all they have done for the sport on and off the track, but remaining calm and talking to carl like he did probably diffused a situation (with a hot head like jeff green) that could have gotten way out of hand. In the middle of all the bumpin' and bangin', whinin' and cryin', it makes me happy to see Kyle out there acting like a damn grown up. I think the way he handled that will rub off on Carl now (or at least I hope so) and we'll see him handle situations like a man should.

On NASCAR SPEED news, did you see the interview with Carl?
It seems along with not seeing very many restarts last night, we also missed a heck of a lot of action on the track that TNT deemed was unneccessary, but would've explained an awful lot more of what was going on.

Oh, and Yes Kyle has a great deal of class. Anyone think that maybe soon Carl will be making a sizable donation to VJGC? LOL

nah, didn't see the interview, i was at my girlfriends house for the race, I don't get speed or even tnt at home...what the hell happened?

I'd like to have heard that conversation. Hopefully Petty was explaining what it's like to be young and brash when your old man is the most famous driver in Nascar.

I think we can agree that it was nothing like the talk DJ gave to Shane.
Or, maybe Ryan should take DJ aside and give him Kyle's talk. It looks like Carl was real appreciative.

Kyle will take the time to cool down and settle in BEFORE kicking tail and writing down names. He previously has shown his youthful exhuberance but time and circumstance have a way of making us better understand what is important and what is not. Kyle is a class act in anysituation.

Did not see the interview with Carl Edwards so what was the content and/or Edwards explanation for his actions ?????

Yesterday, I was at an event in Evansville, In. with Richard and Kyle. Kyle said he apologized to Edwards for getting into him as it was not intentional.

I guess Edwards was a bit taken aback by it because of Kyle's apology. It seems that Edwards assumed otherwise on the track. I guess it was a humbling experience for Carl as Kyle was so gracious.

At the event yesterday, Kyle spoke a lot about family, racing and life. I always thought highly of the Pettys and that opinion was reinforced by what Kyle had to say yesterday.

I wish future sucess for Petty racing. Those folks and their commitment to helping others is a part of racing that sometimes does not get near the attention that it should.

Kyle Petty of old when he was contending would have whooped some ass.

I guess you didn't take the time to read Guido's post.

Yesterday, I was at an event in Evansville, In. with Richard and Kyle. Kyle said he apologized to Edwards for getting into him as it was not intentional.

So if this is the case, why pray tell would Kyle whoop his ass?

Basically that is what Carl said in his interview. Kyle had run him into the wall earlier and he thought it was intentional. then Kyle was behind him going from sise to side and he thought he was trying to wreck him again, so he let him by and punted him.

I didn't post that earlier because I figured people would say BS Carl's just making excusses. With Guido's first hand knowledge from the "victims" mouth, I'd say it was probably an accurate statement from Carl.

Guido's post had nothing to do with what I was talking about. Chalk it up to past experience's with Kyle. Was it Daytona where I forgot who came back across the track with Kyle running in contention and he about strangled the driver for approaching him after the wreck back in the early 90's? My point was it was easy for Kyle to be rational about the situation because he is not in contention for anything. Had he been running in the top ten he sure would probably handled it a little differently.
