Eldora Ratings: 0.4 million in the "money demo"

No not in the money demo, but it was the highest rated trucks race this year ( Beating out the daytona race barely)

Eta - in total viewers anyway, read that on twitter.. and also that the prerace show was most watched ever for the trucks.

I think Eldora was the first Truck race I've watched in like 6 years (last Truck race at the Milwaukee Mile was the last one I saw the entirety of). I know they don't race on dirt every week, but I forgot how cool those little Trucks were. Might start watching Trucks regularly now.

wow sideways, I feel for ya, those sorry, gigging bastards. On another note, I am so out of touch, I don't watch any of those programs, I don't have enough aspirin in the house for the headache.

I sure wouldn't want to sit next to the Boo Boo's or those duck quackers. Ether side you might get something on ya that ya can't get rid of.:)

Nothing surprises me about these numbers. Watching garbage like Honey Flab Flab and Duck Durnasty is more entertaining to some people. I watch my share of garbage but there was no way in hell I was going to miss one second of that Eldora race. I think that there are just a ton of more casual fans that didn't see what the big deal was. They need to keep it going and do more to promote it on the other Fox Networks.

Keep in mind, we are in the NASCAR bubble. We watch everything NASCAR related. Take a look the stands during any race weekend and see how much the Cup crowds dwarf the NW or CWTS crowds.

This was a fantastic success for a first time event run on a Wednesday. No amount of glass half empty whining by our resident NASCAR hating troll will change that.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I watch Big Brother with my wife 3 times per week. (It's terrible but it least it's not about Bachelors, Boo Boo's or Dancing Stars.) We watch it every summer. It's ridiculous but we have fun laughing at the contestants and it's a nice escape from the stresses of real life. On Wednesday night Big Brother was on. She very well understood that we'd be recording it for later viewing because the boys in the house were watching the race.

To heck with TV.
When was the last time NASCAR had 20K+ fans at a truck race?

Agreed. And in a rural area at a friggin dirt track!
But TV pays the bills. At least next year they'll have a bunch of highlights for the ads.

Again I will say, The overall numbers total out to highest rated truck race of the year. That's a success. The stands being filled means it's a success.

That said, outside the hardcore fan who watches speed all the time, I doubt the casuals even knew about it. I didn't see Espn or any other sports network making a big deal out of it.

I honestly don't believe many people at ESPN consider nascar to be a big deal. Other than a passing mention how often are they mentioned on Sportscenter?

I haven't watched much espn of late but when Nascar is mentioned, its usually for the Daytona 500 or when the chase is on cause their network is covering it.

Just saying, it's kinda hard to grab the casuals when the dirt race was on promoted on a hardcore race fan channel.

Yep, it's sort of a we're only talking about this because we have to kinda thing. They can spend an entire morning talking about a hack bench warmer like Tim Tebow but won't give Nascar 5 minutes. Even when they do talk Nascar(like the Nascar Now show) it just seems half a$$ed. I understand the NFL has about 10 times as many fans but that doesn't make it any less frustrating.

What percentage of Sportscenter viewers do you think care about trucks racing on dirt? I would say maybe 1/1000. (0.1%)

I thought the ratings would be bigger - but they are good ratings. On many nights, 0.4 is good enough to win the night in the 25-54 demo.

0.4M viewers isn't too bad for a Truck race on a weeknight on a third-tier cable network. The '79 Daytona 500 it wasn't, but I think the Eldora race will go a long way toward generating interest in both Truck racing and dirt track racing.

It was the 10th most-watched Truck race ever on SPEED. I'll bet that the nine ahead of it were all season openers at Daytona, so it certainly did well.

Really? Quite often, the trucks put on the best show of the weekend. I don't have anyone in the truck series who I root for, but I still watch the races regularly.
