ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) - A new father has secretly named his baby girl Sarah McCain Palin after the Republican ticket for president and vice president.
Mark Ciptak of Elizabethton put that name on the documents for the girl’s birth certificate, ignoring the name Ava Grace, which he and his wife had picked earlier.
“I don’t think she believes me yet,” he told the Kingsport Times-News for a story to be published Tuesday. “It’s going to take some more convincing.”
Ciptak, a blood bank employee for the American Red Cross, said he named his third child after John McCain and Sarah Palin to “to get the word out” about the campaign.
“I took one for the cause,” he said. “I can’t give a lot of financial support for the (McCain/Palin) campaign. I do have a sign up in my yard, but I can do very little.”

When McCain loses he'll wish he named her Michelle Biden Obama...

They can always legally change it in a few months if they want to, and I really hope that they want to.

When my kids were born, 28 & 26 years ago I can almost swear both my wife and I signed the birth certificate or other official paperwork that said we were in agreement over the name.
With my son there was no problem, we didn't want to know gender before birth but as a boy he was named John, same as me, same as my dad, my granddad, my greatgranddad going back 8 generations.
My wife thought she was doomed and daughter really screwed things up. She's the first female born on my side of the family in 117 years,,,just my luck!! We scrambled to find a appropiate name, Jennifer.

What an idiot! And I saw a short interview with him this morning, and you could tell his wife was not happy, and he was skeered:D And the thing is, he didn't "take on for the cause," his poor daughter did.

what a dumbass,

BOTH the candidates for pres SUCK !!! i really think this country is in for a long slippery ride no matter who wins i just hope we survive this mess !

guess I'll have to vote for who ever is in the "other" box

Reminds 1 of the story where the father was stationed overseas and his brother attended the birthing and naming of the twins. When the father called and talked to his wife to see how she was doing he asked what their names were. He was fearful as he knew his brother sometimes wasn't all there. She said well the girl was named Denise. He said well that's not so bad how about the other. She said the boy was named Denephew...

Very similar to the Mexican couple who had twin boys, first born was Jose, second born was named Hose B. :D

Jeez, you guys are harsh. I've not seen too much written about George Forman's sons, all named George. :)

You know, names are just that and of course, they are for life, unless someone changes them. I was named for both of my grandfathers and for the first 50 years of my life, I actually hated being named Floyd James. I have gone by the moniker CB for over 40 years now, but because I now have to wear an ID badge while walking my route, more and more people have been calling me Floyd. It's my name and now I'm proud of it.

Sarah McCain Palin...that name sounds good to me and I don't see anything wrong with any female named Sarah...but then of course, I'm not an avowed Republican hater such as many who have detested this name. I guess the names Piper, Bristol and Willow are now total dorky names for girls. But I would then guess that the name Barrak would be a terrific name for a youngster born in a Democrat family. Senator Obama went by Barry when he was growing up and I would venture to say that few people actually knew whet his real name was. I guess many of you believe that your name has to reflect on your beliefs.

Tis a sad commentary.

There's nothing wrong with the name Sarah, McCain, or Palin. It's just when you put them all together for a baby. :)
