I had to make an unscheduled trip to the pain management center/doctor yesterday. I usually see him once a month. My monthly visit was scheduled for next week but my back hurt so badly yesterday that I had to call yesterday to see if I could get in. The doctor I see was at another of their locations, in Kent. I asked them if I could go out there and see him. They made a call and he said he would meet me at the one closer to my house at 2pm. I thought that was extremely cool of him and them to do that.
He worked out, and stretched out, some of the spasms and kinks. He gave me a steroid pack to take over the next 6 days and told me to increase my muscle relaxers and pain medicine I take already just until this episode is over. I still hurt like hell, today, but at least I can function and breathe normally. I can usually handle most amounts of pain but yesterday was just unbearable even with the pain meds and muscle relaxers I take on a regular basis.

steroids are wonder drugs as far as i'm concerned. i took prednisone for years as a kid (before steroids were virtually banned for long term treatment). best drug i've ever taken, bar none. i'd go back on it in a heartbeat if i could find a doctor that would give it to me for long term treatment.
