Hawkins deputies look for heavy woman who attacked Bulls Gap restaurant employee with catfish
Published 03/06/2007 By JEFF BOBO

BULLS GAP - The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office is looking for a "blond heavy frame female" who allegedly attacked a restaurant employee with a catfish Friday evening in Bulls Gap.

HCSO Cpl. David Lafollette responded to Di's Diner, 401 Highway 11-E, Bulls Gap, shortly after the incident occurred around 7 p.m. Friday.

Diner employee Tina Henry and owner Dwight Jenkins told the deputy that a stocky blond female standing 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches tall attempted to stuff a catfish dinner in her purse and then pay her bill without paying for the catfish dinner.

"Tina states that as the suspect was paying, they told her she would have to pay for the dinner in her purse," Lafollette stated in his report. "She (the suspect) then became mad, throwing money at the cash register. The suspect then walked outside, and Tina and Dwight followed.

"The suspect then threw the fish out of her purse at Tina, hitting her in the back."

Henry was not injured in the catfish attack, but the catfish dinner was ruined. The dinner had a price tag of $7.99.

Witnesses said there was a man with the female suspect, but he wasn't involved in the catfish attack or theft. The man did, however, flee with the female suspect in the getaway vehicle, a red and black F-250 pickup.

Witnesses were able to provide deputies with two possible license plate numbers, but one came back not on file and the other matched a green 2001 Suzuki.

The female suspect is potentially facing theft and assault charges.

Anyone with information about the catfish assailant is asked to contact the HCSO at 272-4848.

What is wrong with you guys. Catfish is good stuff. Guess you don't like seafood either?

I love me some catfish.

This needed to be said again...

Unfortunately the BBQ place I'm going to for lunch doesn't sell catfish. But, man what Jerry does with a pig would make you want to smack your momma...

Can't get catfish in a restaurant for love or money up here. There's a fishmongers not far from here who says he can get me some fresh, but then I've gotta cook it.

Hey, nothing wrong with either. I stopped by a fish house on the way home just last week and picked up a mess of cooked trout and fixings to take home for supper.
As to salmon I can eat it most ways its fixed.

All this reminds me of the time I was @ a fish restaurant in Wilmington, NC. They had tuna on the menu and as many of you know there's not much better than a good tuna steak. I asked the waiter if the tuna was fresh. He said yes. I then asked if it was Starkist or Chicken of the Sea. Let's just say some don't have a sense of humor as it was lost on him. Pearls before swine I tell you...

You need to come to TN. We got it flying thru the parking lots of restaurants down here.

As for a heaping plate of fried catfish --- bring it on ! !
And grilled salmon, grilled redfish, grilled shark --- well, you get the picture.

Born and raised on Gulf Coast --- seafood is in my blood. Yum.

I wish someone would attack ME with some catfish...fried catfish is the best.

Kat LOVES most seafood! Fresh caught trout, salmon, cod, LOBSTER, shrimp, mahimahi, talapia, swordfish, haddock, sole, bonita, tuna, scallops, and more.
Kat likes SASHIMI and sushi too!

I've always found lobster's reputation to be a little over blown. I mean I eat the things but to me they aren't that special.
My folks live on the coast so we'll go to the docks and buy live crabs and shrimps by the burlap bag. Put a kettle pot over a fire outside and everyone shucks their own crabs. I generally end up shelling and deveining the shrimp but after that you're on your own. Mom cooks up the fixings inside. Good times, good times.

Maine lobster is the best......steamed, NOT boiled or baked and served with only melted butter and lemon.
Rock lobster is just not as tasty.
Gulf shrimp are the very best, and those other shrimps pale in comparison. JMO say my tastebuds.

Can't say as I've ever had a hankerin for seabug myself, but the missus loves it. Last vacation out east, she must have put nearly 10 lbs of fresh-off-the-boat-this-morning lobster outta their misery.

BP the veigns are the vegetables... When eating shrimp one does not need a side dish!
Betsy:D

It depends on the size of the shrimps. Anything over medium I gotta clean those suckers out. I've tried the super large shrimps in NOLA. 2 to 4 to a pound. A half pound shrimp is just named wrong. They're ok but they need a lot of seasoning.
Also I love me some farm raised crawfish. They can get up to a decent size. And before anyone asks, no I don't suck no head...
