I’m planning on coming over for the Daytona 500 on feb 20 2005 but I’m in serious need of some advice, I’m planning on staying I Orlando for 2 weeks but making the trip up to Daytona for the 20th , I’m looking to get some sort of hospitality mainly to keep the girlfriend sweet, is it worth staying at Daytona Beach for the night or drive up from Orlando, where can I get the tickets from etc etc, any help would be much appreciated…

Thanks in advance...

My best advice is go through a tour company and let them handle all the particulars. They also provide hopitality packages. Traffic in and around Daytona is a nightmare for the veterans, and totally unbelievable for the first-timer.

I can recommend 2 tour companies if you would like to see what they have to offer.

I've used both and have found both to be excellent.

BTW, welcome to RF.

Tickets at www.ticketmaster.com.

As far as Orlando/Daytona goes, Daytona is probably worth a day or two for the beaches and of course the day of the race. I-4 is hell, so if you go to the race, plan on staying in Daytona the night before and day after.

Depending on your age (Im 22) Orlando is hella fun. The attractions and theme parks, CityPlace at Universal, Church Street in Downtown, etc. The nightlife is pretty kickin. Tampa is an hour west, so you can hit up Tampa also and check out Ybor City.

Thank i should have mentioned i was in Orlando last march for 3 weeks, so driving is no problem i just want to avoid the traffic and i don’t mind paying a little extra for its after all it is a holiday.. whats it like getting from daytona beach to the track on the day ?? what are my options there ?

The 2 companies I have used are ---

www.gptours.com

www.thereandbackagain.com

Both are reliable and have good seats. The best seats are in the Earnhardt Tower. It is on the Turn 4 end of pit road. The seats are individual fold-down theater types. The row in front of you is a good 3 feet away --- allowing people to pass to the aisle without stomping on your feet.

The best thing about tour companies --- they do the driving on raceday! LOL
