I still have this race and several other Daytona 500's saved on video tape complete with the vintage commercials. I watched the 2001 race again a few weeks ago and was struck by the poignancy of some of the scenes; Jeff and Brooke Gordon walking hand in hand, and Dale & Teresa's final embrace before he got into the #3 for the last time.
I too have the race on tape. Haven't watched it again, though.

I have the 97 Talladega race on tape to this day I still think this was the best race I ever saw. It only had 3 cautions and out of those 2 were for some rain sprinkles. Mark Martin won the race. I remember they had a mic under the flag stand and when the cars passed under it it sounded like a machine gun firing. That race still holds the record for the fastest race in nascar history at 189mph.
