ESPN dropping IndyCar Series?

ESPN may dump the IRL next season and is only interested in the Indy 500. IRL is shopping its TV package to Versus, the former Outdoor Life Channel. Sports Business Journal says the annual TV package is being offered at $10 million, less than the cost of one Sprint Cup Series race or an annual single team NASCAR sponsorship.

WOW! Versus and Outdoor Life Channel.

Stick a fork in the Irl coffin, they're done.

What were IRL's past TV deals? I thought the IRL was stupid in the first place, it really only exists because it was created on basis of being more affordable than CART, the premier open wheel racing series in America. When CART went down in the 90's so did open wheel racing in America. It is sad, not to have open wheel racing in America, but America is dominated by stock car racing, and for good reason.
