I know there were people upset about Kyle Busch being pre-empted by tennis (and thos that are happy about it:D), but if you are a fan of anything but football, you better hope ESPN isn't involved.

The mens US Open final was rained out Sunday. It was supposed to start at 4:00 on NBC, but halfway through the second set it started raining again, so they moved it to ESPN, and then moved again to ESPN 2. When it finally got back going again, they said across the bottom of the screen that they would move it to ESPN Classic at 10:15 if it wasn't over. All because of two back-to-back MNF games.

Anyway, the game did end on time, barely. But then, right at 10:15 sharp, ESPN 2 cut away (mid-celebration) to show the MNF game. And since the tennis match was technically over, they didn't even bother putting the remainder of the broadcast on Classic, they just dropped it all together.

Now, what did they show on ESPN 2 for the game? The 3 minutes or so of the Hank Williams MNF theme, immediately followed by....you guessed it...a commercial break.

ESPN has one loyalty. NFL football, followed maybe by baseball and poker. Anything else gets dropped to second tier.
