ESPN just had a heart attack

Word is out that Travis Pastrana broke a leg at the X-Games.

No racing at Indy. The script just got tossed out the window.

We have XGames on and halfway paying attention at work with the sound off, didn't realize that was Pastrana. It looked kinda painful, that's too bad he's goinf to miss Indy.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise.. that crazy SOB woulda gotten killed in a stock car.

It looked more like he twisted the hell out of his ankle.

"...Action sports star Travis Pastrana crashed hard on back-to-back "TP Roll" attempts Thursday night in X Games 17 Moto X Best Trick.

Pastrana, who was taken off on a stretcher and transported to a hospital for X-rays, has a broken right foot and ankle, according to medical officials working with ESPN..."

"TP Roll" that's about right cause that trick just went to **** for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Waltrip's voice hit Mariah Carey range when he heard about this.

I'll have to say the guy is off the wall, but he is really talented, and I wouldn't of been surprised at all if he had pulled this entire thing off this weekend. Too bad he can't now, certainly ESPN must be going ****, ****, right now!

So, I guess this means I won't have to hear the word 'Pastranathon' any longer? And I just got done adding it to my spellchecker too! :D

Umm, how exactly? It's not like he was going to try and jump a ramp with it. I mean seriously, look at Edwards last year ad 'Dega. Hell, he jogged across the finish line.

He's got about 100% better chance of gettign killed doing that x-games crap than he does in stock car.

I absolutely agree with that statement. I watched about an hour of ESPN's broadcast of the XGames. It pretty much goes without saying but those guys are NUTS!

If he ever gets another chance to get into a stock car..there mabey very heavy rules about other activities.

I bet you can get a great buy on one of those 'Pastranathon' T-Shirts @ the ESPN souvenir hauler this weekend.

ESPN might have had a heart attack, but most of the general racing fans don't give a flip.

I doubt it, his deal is excitement at any cost pretty much, to regulate what he does would just take too much away from who he is.

This reminds me of when they hyped DW's last run at Martinsville (I think) in the trucks and he didn't qualify for the race.

Yeah, to expect a guy whose livelyhood is dangerous forms of motorsports to stop because he going to race a stock car doesn't quite make any sense.

It seems to make a lot of sense now, but only for MWR. Without the hype-athon, nobody would have given a crap about Pastrana running the NW race.

NASCAR is really sweating bullets over their aging fanbase, and bringing in younger fans by tying into the X-games was a good plan gone bad. It was that darn new trick that messed everything up.

NASCAR is also working hard on promoting Kyle as a controversial figure who gets to count being first on the lunch line as a career win, and Carl as the Mr Niceguy counter to Kyle. Problem is, they are both douches.

Action sports star Travis Pastrana crashed on back-to-back "TP Roll" attempts Thursday night in X Games 17 Moto X Best Trick, ending the Pastranathon during its first event. Pastrana, who was taken off on a stretcher and transported to a hospital for X-rays, broke his right foot and ankle, according to medical officials working with ESPN. He was discharged from the hospital Thursday night. The injury will require surgery at a later date, Pastrana's planned NASCAR debut on Saturday will be put on hold. He is also out of the X Games. "I am sorry this happened and will be back in action as soon as I can. I look forward to Pastranathon 2012 at X Games 18," Pastrana told ESPN following his release from the hospital. Going into the X Games, Pastrana had planned to compete in Best Trick and Freestyle on Thursday and Friday, fly to Indianapolis to make his NASCAR Nationwide debut Saturday, then return to Los Angeles to compete in RallyCross on Sunday. X Games 17 will be the first X event since 2002 that Pastrana has been out of medal contention. Pastrana crashed while attempting the corked 720 that had made him a gold medal favorite in Best Trick. Riders usually get one shot each round at throwing tricks, but Pastrana tried the 720 twice after under-rotating the first time. His second attempt ended in identical fashion and he immediately grabbed his lower leg as medical staff rushed to his side on the landing ramp.(ESPN)(7-29-2011)

I do, I like seeing guys from other forms of racing give it a shot. You can't blame them, they all know that NASCAR is where the fame and fortune is for a driver outside of F1 so why not give it a try. You have to remember that most of these guys like Pastrana and Carmichael have dominated their particular field so, like any racer, they look for a new challenge.

I would be much more interested in seeing some top Rally drivers try NASCAR. Pastranas rally experience, although limited, is what interested me most. I don't think stunt and motocross skills have much to do with auto racing.

I hear ya but Carmichael has been decent so far. He hasn't looked out of place.

Pastrana Waltrip Racing announced Friday it will withdraw the #99 Boost Mobile Toyota from Saturday's race at Lucas Oil Raceway where action sports star Travis Pastrana planned to make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut. Pastrana broke his right foot and ankle after back-to-back crashes during the Moto X Best Trick competition at the X Games in Los Angeles Thursday. "Like fans everywhere we were so excited about Travis' debut Saturday night," said team owner Michael Waltrip. "We have a long term vision with Travis which includes lots of NASCAR. We can't wait to get him healed and in our race cars. We talked to our sponsor Boost Mobile and agreed to withdraw from Indy and delay our debut. We've waited a long time for someone like Travis Pastrana. I guess we'll just have to wait a little bit longer." Pastrana had planned to compete in Best Trick and Freestyle on Thursday and Friday, fly to Indianapolis to make his NASCAR Nationwide debut Saturday, then return to Los Angeles to compete in RallyCross on Sunday.(Pastrana Waltrip Racing)(7-29-2011)

First in lunch line! LMAO

And Carmicheal is serious about what he's doing. He's not trying to do it all. Just one thing. Now if he could get it together.......

Hey MoeJoe, it's great to see you here.

I've been rooting for Ricky. He has proven to me that he wants to make it on talent and doesn't lean on his 2 wheel fame. Jeez, that guy has a lot of bad luck. It seems he has been knocked out of half a dozen top 10 finishes, and usually he is purely a victum.
