Eury is killing the 88

Does anyone else think that the only thing keeping Jr. from being a threat is fatass Eury? It always seems to be something with the car, last year and this year. I can't stand Jr. but it seems like he has a problem with the car every race. Nobody else at Hendrick is having problems like him and at DEI it was always something with the car. Eury is the common denominator I think or am I way off?

Nope, I agree 100% with you. I like Eury Sr but Eury Jr has never impressed me. Personally I think having a close family member as an integral part of your team ends up detrimental in the long run. Sure they are close and that's great when all goes well but it makes it unnecessarily hard to make changes when things go bad.

I thought all along Jr should have come to HMS with a different crew chief. One from HMS probably because they have the best in the business.

What happened at Watkins Glenn this year cemented my thoughts on Eury Jr.

Its not just Tony, Jr could have a car capable of 300 mph and still screw it up. Like I said along time ago, Jr is a very overated driver. He just cant get the job done.

If you're talking about last night, a cut tire ruined the #88's chances.

I've listened to DaleJr ever since he started in Busch, Pops Eury would have to drag information out of him during a race. Dale is not the most informative driver out there.

So I can't blame TonyJr for all the problems --- it is a 2-way street.

I can buy into both of these sentiments. What should have happened, when Lil'E came to HMS he should have been given Grubb as CC. Maybe, if he had to have Eury Jr then put him back as car chief. A role he did well. This way maybe HMS holds onto Grubb rather than losing him to Stewart-Haas.

I haven't really kept up with all the changes in Cup but isn't the team that Jr. is with the original 25 team that Papa Joe Hendrick had?

Loyalty is great. Working with family sucks. BTDT

I fired my son. He thought his 6 months experience outweighed my 30+ years. Makes for interesting dinner converstion.

I would hope Hendrick will make a change next year in fact I'll bet he does. I don't see him as one who will accept excuse after excuse. But the question is who'll take Eury Jr?

where did all the crew chief bashing come from. Gordons cc is getting ripped up by everybody and eury is the cause of all jrs problems. Race teams dont run off two individuals. There is a whole lot more that goes on then just what the driver does and crew chief. Hard to guess when a tire will explode.

I never said anything about the damn tire exploding last night. Thats not what the hell I'm talking about. Do you think I'm an idiot? Thats just bum luck, I know that, and I can't beleive I have to explain myself to you with the fact that I know you can't guess when a tire explodes. Everybody in the entire ****ing world knows that. But the tire problem got me thinking all the other B.S. problems he has had during a race, usually right after a pitstop where an adjustment has been made to the car.

I'm agreeing with you to a certain extent --- but a CC is only as good as the information the driver gives him. Junior has never been the greatest at giving detailed info.

And, no, I do not think you're an idiot.

I was talking about basscatcher89 actually TRL. I know where you are coming from; I just thought it was ridiculous that he said the same thing. Like I'm some kind of dumbass because I didn't know you can't predict a tire exploding.

Junior's year started out way better than Jeff's and believe me, Steve Letarte is getting all the blame and Jeff just says, no way it's all Steve's fault and he won't replace him. I didn't like Tony Jr. and the way he talked to the media last year when he'd say something like "Oh well ...." when Jr. would blow and engine like it wasn't any big deal. I sure wouldn't have brought him along, but they say the work well together??? I don't know about that.

It's weird how things have gone this year. The Gibbs cars were the cream of the crop and then they've gone to hell in a hand basket since the Chase started. Now the Rousch cars are having bad luck, some no one could help obviously, but that engine problem with Carl was out of character.

I'm no expert, but I think there's so many things which going into having a winning team. I don't like Tony Jr., but with the way Dale Jr gives out info, who's to say he'd do better with anyone else?

Don't know for sure about that, but I can attest that last night, he was giving plenty of explicit and very raw info. Needless to say, he didn't like his car very much. :)

Oh, yeah --- he can be very explicit. Sometimes, though, it's not stuff that TonyJr can use on the car. I don't know if you can do something like that with a car --- seems it would be very painful for the CC. ROTFL

LOL Yeah, I've heard he can be QUITE EXPLICIT on his radio. :lol2: :lol2:

Yorkie, they can all be pretty raw at times. My first Cup race was at Martinsville many years ago. On one of the first couple of laps, there was a wreck on the backstretch that included Terry Labonte. My ears were no longer virgins. :) To be honest, I don't think that I've heard any one driver that hasn't said words that would be banned on TV. Emotions are very hard to control in the heat of the battle.

Sledge im sorry if you took me wrong i wasnt talking to you directly on that. I had heard it said on another board and was just frustrated because people want to put blame on one thing when a driver isnt doing well. It always seems like on Windtunnel or other shows like that the blame always has to be one thing and racing is way more dynamic then that.

Trust me if i thought you were an idiot i would have said so.

I have to agree with TRL. Dale is killing himself....Tony can only do so much with the information given..... Dale can't talk his way out of a paper bag. Just listen to his interviews after a race.

Oh, I know they are! I'm not naive enough to think they're choir boys while the adrenaline is running so high. Heck, you might think I was a trucker with some of the words that come out of my mouth when someone cuts me off or does something stupid when I'm driving. I've totally regressed from when I had clean up my act when my kids were little. Sometimes, I'm surprised at what comes out of my mouth. LOL

I think the biggest black eye went to TNT last year when they played Kyle Petty's radio w/o screening it first and good boy Kyle dropped the "F bomb" on live TV. Kyle has such a clean image and the fact he works for TNT during most of the races they air, made them look like even bigger idiots. My husband and I totally cracked up when they did that. I think that was right after they fined Tony for saying BS on live TV and had to make a big explanation of how it was their fault and Kyle wouldn't be fined. Dummies.

If people are worried about their sensitive ears, they should stay off of the team radios during races. ;)

Exactly. The broadcast networks should also be running a 7 second delay as the radio talk shows do. I would stand and applaud if a driver said " I just hit the f*****g wall at 150 mph, how the f*** do you think I feel you twit"

Had nothing to do with that. NASCAR had said something along the lines that Stewart made it a point to say BS and Kyle's was a slip of the tongue.

And if people can't stand a little sailor language, they're watching the wrong sport. And these NASCAR drivers have to watch their language b/c of national television. Go to a sportsman race and listen to what comes out of their mouths after a wreck. That makes Tony and Junyer look like saints.

:XXROFL:

That'd be amazing.

I made it a point at New Jersey just to ask: "Are you okay, physically?"

Why?

Because I knew they weren't okay mentally and might say something colorful.

Don't sweat it basscatcher89. I was in a pretty pisspoor mood yesterday, so I'm sorry for being a prick.

Back to the Eury question earlier. I don't know why I asked it in the first place. I can't stand Jr. and Eury is a stupid fatass that wouldn't have the job he has without Jr. I wouldn't let him be a tire changer on my team, his belly would get in the way anyhow. So I answered my own question and I like what I heard.

:bsflag:

Not Texas Terry? Kelloggs you said he had a halo and I believed you.

Yes it did, Andy. Maybe you didn't read all of the boards I read, but people were ticked that Tony was fined and so they had to give the explanation you gave about Kyle. Slip of the tongue? I doubt it. More like the station being stupid not delaying the broadcast and not airing it. There was all kinds of talk at the time about there should be a delay, even with what Tony said. I remember people being in an uproar that Tony said that because they were watching with their kids. Ummm..if they take "said kids" to any race, they better take them to the kiddy section if the track has one, but don't count on them not hearing naughty words from the fans just walking around the track. Heck, when my kids were little, there were kids on the kindergarten bus who should have had their mouths washed out with soap on a daily basis. I just always told my kids just because they heard it or others said it, it was still a bad word and they were NOT to say it.

ROFL That would be too funny and the truth instead of ... Well the I guess the 101 or 103 got loose and hit me and it's too bad since we had such a great Wal-mart car today... blah blah blah. LOL
