Even pit crews skirt the rules in pit crew competition

A race team push the rule book as far as they can to try to find an advantage... I'm shocked! :sarcasm:

the 29 and the 18 did the same thing. Some teams even went as far as pulling out the fuel filler to use that hole for some more grip to help push the car.

They need to just return to the old format. A regular pit stop at a regular track that is just like any other weekend.

Eff this specialty car, specialty driver, specialty stage crap.

That's a hoot. Nothing in the rules aboutthe driver. Pure genious.
It's this type of ingenuity that made Na$car and now as stated they'll add another rule and stifle it.:(

Interesting that it's Burton who benefits though. It's not the first time he or his team have stretched the rules.

Remember when Burton waited until the last lap of the first segment of the Winston Select to pit? It was pure genius -- he only had to drive 55 mph for 100 ft. to cross the stripe while everyone else pitted sooner and had to go down the entire pit road. NASCAR was so pissed about that! :D They had the rule change written that night!

After I posted I remembered that. But Andy, in both cases it was played by the rules in effect at the time, like it or not.

Me, I like it. :beerbang:

Oh, there's no doubt about it -- it's fun.

I do like seeing NASCAR change the rules, sometimes, though. It's just not as funny, creative or entertaining the second time someone tries it.

Question is, with this being a non-points event, what does Mr. Knaus have up his sleeve this weekend? :D

I had almost forgot about that until I read your post. That was pure genius.

Delana Harvick was thrilled she was going to be "driving the car." She posted on Twitter that she was super excited to be doing it. :)

I was :XXROFL: at that. It's amazing how far teams will push it when points are on the line.

And I'm willing to bet every single car in tomorrow's Challenge is disposable. If they all are, bring out the wreckers and get ready for a photo finish! :growl::growl:
