Anyone else get the feeling Evernham will be reunited with Jeff Gordon in some capacity? Their previous connection and continuing comments about how they'd like to work together again leads me to believe Evernham will be doing something with Gordon before year's end. What that is, I don't know.

Right now Evernham has his hands full with East Lincoln, tryin to turn that track around...... I would venture a guess Jeff may make a surprise appearance this year there...... dunno bout Ray comin back to HMS....... time will tell i guess.

hard to say, he might come back as an advisor maybe. But he's also working on a land speed record car, or soemthing like that. With Doug Herbert i believe.

interesting comment made during the off season by Evernham in an interview,,,

NS: Have you shut the door on team ownership or on being a crew chief again?

Evernham: I have no desire to own a team again. I just have no desire to own a team. As far as crew-chiefing, I was Jeff Gordon’s crew chief. I will never be anybody else’s crew chief. Would I like to go and help Steve Letarte (Gordon’s current crew chief) in some way to help Jeff Gordon get back to winning races and winning a championship? I think Jeff can win championships. I think Steve is a great crew chief. That would probably be the only two guys who would get me back to the track to work on a race car.

That comment was one of the things I was referring to. Not once, but twice, I have heard them mention on TV about Evernham being Gordon's former crew chief. No one has referred to him in that way in years.

I think once he gets herbert his record (or whoever it was) he'll come back as car cheif....

from what I understand is Evernham is mostly the money part for the land speed record car.Herbert is the one who is building it.

if i were letarte i would take this as an insult to my abilities and move on. the success rate for comebacks to try and refind past glory isn't all that great.
