Today has NOT been my day! :grrrr:

I had a lot of errands to run today, so what did I do first thing --- I slept late! Didn't move until 9:30! !

It's hotter than Hell so getting in and out of a hot car is the last thing I wanted to be doing. :FIREdevil

To top it off, got caught in the traffic jam from a wreck on the freeway, took almost an hour to get out and home.

Had to go more places than I figured to find the replacement parts to the lawn mower --- I kept getting the "yes, we carry that, but apparently we don't have any right now" story.

Had to do grocery shopping to replenish from the weekend guests. Why are all these people at the store standing in line? Get the hell out of my way.

Just not my day, folks.

OK, I'm through. LOL

Sorry TRL,
Getcha a nice cold iced tea and settle back with friends.

Umm, what's a traffic jam??

Out here, two tractors on the same stretch of road is as close as we get.

Sorry to hear your day was so bad, TRL. I can certainly empathize. I must say "Everybody, get out of my way!" at least 15 times a day here.

But you all haven't seen a traffic jam until you've been on the Brooklyn-Queens "Expressway" at rush hour. Actually, at any time of day or night. I was on it at midnight this past weekend, cabbing it home from my folks' place in Brooklyn, and got stuck there for an extra 25 minutes due to construction. (They really should call it "destruction" when it takes place in New York. Much more appropriate.) Nothing is more frustrating than paying $30 for a cab ride to get you home quicker than the subway, only to sit there watching the traffic seemingly creep backwards! Uggh, get me outta here!!!

i know how you feel, i had to go to the DMV and re-new my lisecnce, took me 5 and a half hours, no kidding, 5 and 1/2 hours, that basically ended my plans to do anything else for the day

;) :D

If you meant me, I'd LOVE to race at Bristol! In my old Saab. That would amazing, to say the least.

And amazing to watch, too. ;) :D

Abooja is the one person who knows what traffic is about. I live in the heart of silicon valley and grew up here and have seen the changes over the years. after 40+ years I must say it sucks. but compared to N.Y. I have it easy.

Well, there is one other person here but, rest assured, she won't ever say anything... ;)

Some people love the city. and I can understand that. as for me I freak out with too many people around. I must really love winston cup racing to be able to go 2 or 3 times a year.

Believe me, I freak out in the city too, which is why it hasn't exactly been a party here the last couple of years. I swear, all there is around me is cement and more cement. When I see even a squirrel or a duck in Central Park, I flip out. That's the extent of my exposure to nature these days.

IT SUCKS!!! :chainsaw:

#1 I think Houston is the devils hopyard when it comes to heat and humidity at this time of year (been there, hated the weather).

#2 oversleeping is God's way of telling you to ease up.

#3 try a Long Island Iced tea, just one.

#4 traffic sucks no matter where you live. I once saw a picture of a traffic jam in Ireland, Guy on bycicle stuck behind many cows and no passing. hehehe

Thank whomever invented AC. and purrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Make plans and get the hell out. or at least take a vacation to get away from it all.:beerchug: sounds like you do the same as me and stay away from the crowds.

Racer8, I'm figuring on gathering up some racin buddies here and draggin you all down to Charlotte with me. How's about that? ;)

Hey guys traffic? Abooja definitely understands in NYC. But here in DC, my commute is 45-90 minutes each way depending on traffic and what mode of transportation I take (usually public now). I long to get back to Bristol (yes, actually that's where I went to high school and the 'rents live). Can't wait to settle down to the simpler life!!!!!

Hey Happy i know that DC traffic really sucks was lost in DC for 3 hours 1 day not happy at all it. And was afraid to ask anyone for help fearing they would get me more lost than i already was. I just wanted to get back to Gaitherburg.

Abooja, the traffic sucks in Charlotte also. Trust me. My parents live there. I spent all last week there, I was itching to get home. I think I questioned the abililty of peoples driving at least 100 times.

Really, IronMan? That's interesting to hear. It still wouldn't stop me from moving there, since that's just one of the things wrong with life in NYC, but good to know all the same. I'd probably live in one of the outlying towns (like Concord or Kannapolis!), and work in the city. Unless DEI gives me a job, that is... :D

Concord/Kannapolis is a very nice area. It is expensive to live in N.C. although it is also in NY. We live in a 2 bedroom duplex with a garage our rent for this place would be 4 times as high in Charlotte. Just check it out before you make the move, you may be walking into the same crap you are going through in NYC.

Trust me, IronMan. Very few places on earth are more expensive to live in than NYC. The San Francisco/Bay Area is one of them. I've checked out rents in Charlotte and surrounding areas, and they're infinitely more reasonable than here. For instance, I live in Queens -- a 15-minute subway ride from my job here in Manhattan -- in a dirty, crowded immigrant neighborhood, and the rent for my 1-bedroom apartment (with a tiny kitchen and few closets) is going up to around $850/month this October. That may shock one or two of you, but it's considered dirt cheap for my area. I don't keep a car anymore because the insurance would be outrageous (I had one when I was upstate), and because parking is impossible. If you can't afford a garage -- which many cannot -- you've got to park on the streets. When I had my car here, I often spent 1/2 hour every evening looking for a spot. Once I got that spot, even if it was 5 or 6 blocks from home, I wouldn't ever want to give it up so I'd never drive it! It sickens me that I pay so much to live such a subpar lifestyle. No garden, no car, and little money left after expenses. I don't know how everyone else tolerates it. Maybe most of them never had a taste of country living the way I did. Too bad for them...

Wow TRL,It sounds like you need a York Peppermint Patty :) I have been dealin with the Gov.and utility companys all week.I am opening another office,Believe me ignorance is flourishing in this country. :takethat:How has everone been doing?I look forward to getting back to being regular again. :) I know somebody is going to run with that one,No pun intended.Hello to everybody:)

abooja, I figured that rent was high there in NYC. If you stay out of Mecklenburg county in NC it is cheaper, as long as a commute doesn't bother you. They do have a personal property tax there in NC. (they don't offer this info till you go get your tags for your vehichle) In fact NC screws you on taxes every chance they get. I drove a 2000 Chevy Prism while I lived there and I paid on top of car payment, insurance (very high) a $460 property tax every year plus the cost of $55 for tags. They will not give you a tag until you pay the tax either oh and did I mention that you have to pay the tax in advance. I love it more and more every day in TN we have no state income tax (for now), no property tax on a vehichle. Just some info for you to think about. It is pretty in some areas if you like the city. Oh and the Race Track is awesome there.
