F-1 to determine title by wins, not points

And you could have someone finish in the top 5, maybe even the top 10 and never win a race become champ.

Points in Na$car were set up to reward consistency not wins.
 
It almost doesn't make sense...if someone finishes 2nd every race and another guy wins the most races; he will win over the guy who got 2nd each week?
 
It's pretty inane since F1 is known for disqualifying drivers because of their skin color and covering it up as "he made an illegal pass" when anyone with any sense knows the pass was perfectly legal.

Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley must've **** their pants when Lewis Hamilton won the championship and it's just an easier way for F1 to make sure it doesn't happen again. :rolleyes:

On Nascar Now they had who would have won the Championship the past few years if they went by this point system and it was quite different than it really was.

If they did it any different than the Chase, I have a feeling Jeff Gordon would have 6 or 7 championships by now.
 
Yep, that's what they said and that's what I read. We Gordo fans aren't just poor sports.... IF you have the most points for the season, you deserve the championship. I think Carl would have won last year, wouldn't he? Kyle lost by points, too in the old system. Now wins.. I guess he had one more than Carl. Man my memory is BAD. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.
 
A combination of the 2 would be a the way to go. Wins alone, and getting rid of points is dumb. But, at least in the Nascar world, wins still don't mean as much as they should. There's still not enough emphasis placed on wins, and someone could easily (well, not easily, but...) win a championship without winning a single race. And just ain't right.
 
You are spot on! Carl had one more win than Kyle last year.

I didn't like the new points system when they first implemented it but now I do not mind it so much. Under the old points system I think Gordon would have won another title. Under the old system Tony has been a top ten finisher every year.
