What's with the people complaining about not getting tickets in the comments? Anybody know what's up with that?

Don't know the whole story but the late batch look like crappy concert tickets. 2012 vs. 2013 comparison:

Among the complaints:

  • People have still not received their tickets;
  • Callers looking for clarity have been bounced between the circuit and ticket broker Ticketmaster;
  • Circuit officials have changed their story or shifted blame;
  • People paid $15 for FedEx shipping but received tickets through regular U.S. Postal Service;
  • Some tickets look like simple movie ticket stubs and are not the large, stylized commemorative tickets.

Can we as Americans atleast pretend F1 presence here is a big deal?

I see the ticket was $104 and change.. Is that pretty much the bang for your buck, going rate for tix to this race??

Edit: the other one was $174.. One seat apart. Dafuq? Am I missing something?

From Jalopnik's article about the ticket de-BAH-cul:

"In response to mounting pressure from unhappy customers voicing their displeasure through various social and media channels, circuit spokeswoman Julie Loignon released this statement on Wednesday, November 6:

Our F1 USGP tickets have been shipped. They went out a week later than we originally anticipated due to some design and informational updates that Formula One Management required us to make to the ticket stock."

And, COTA's official announcement here. The hand that feeds goes unbitten.

Not quite sure about that. Good catch.

Heikki Kovalainen will replace Kimi Raikkonen at Lotus for the US and Brazilian GPs.

Hell, he probably wasn't far off from being asked.

They actually did ask Schumacher, which I found interesting.
They did? Interesting.

I meant "Mika" instead of "Mike" obviously. Just noticed it now and can't edit it anymore.

It looks like the race will be preempted by U.S. Olympics Curling trials on Sunday.
So I guess that means no internet until after the broadcast if you don't want it spoiled.

It's on my cable guide. The last two races of the season are on broadcast NBC instead of NBCSN.

LOL Thank you! I already knew that, I think you had actually posted something before about the last two races being on NBC. Reset my DVR accordingly. Lots of live coverage of practice today, looked like nice weather after some drama because of fog earlier.

Man, did NBCSN screw up their delayed qualifying broadcast.
1. Started 20 minutes late.
2. Showed the results on the bottom screen crawl during Q1.
3. Went to commercial with 10 minutes to go in Q2, came back to live shot of Vettel getting out of his car after getting the pole.

Disappoint.

It was live on CNBC.

That's the one I meant. I went all Andy on them, you'd have been proud.

Looks like we might not see the race live, tornadoes moving through the area and the local NBC weather team are basking in their glory, showing the same radar screen over and over.

Praying everyone stays safe, racing and football are secondary.

Before you correct me again, I meant the first showing on NBCSN, after olympics curling trials. Forgot to check their other other channel.

I''ll learn one of these days. Thanks for the guidance, Andy.

Frank should just kick Pastor out of the car for these last two races.

1 - Go to NBC's home country.
2 - NBC's F1 commentary team broadcasts from the track for a change.
3 - Will Buxton's mic is mysteriously worse for some reason.

Did anyone notice the reporter wanted to take a photo with Vetter and Webber but Webber just walked off. haha

What an AMAZING young man this Sebastion Vettel is. His words on the radio to his team after the win were unbelievable. What an honor it must be for anyone thats gets to work with this kid.

Who would win in a fist fight, KyBu or Vettel?

Local stations have an obligation to inform the public of dangerous situations... and yes, I know they don't interrupt football. They should.

I understand that, Captain Obvious. Our local NBC weather team stayed on all afternoon, hours after the storms had past, showing the same cellphone pic of a tornado and some rubble. They even preempted Figure Skating. FIGURE SKATING!

Just to put it clearly so you can all understand, to me racing, football, movies, and sports are entertaining distractions from real life, which isn't always easy or pretty. My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost so much today, and hope their recovery begins quickly. Having lost everything to a disaster myself, I know the feeling, and that brighter days lie ahead.

Just finished watching the rebroadcast on NBCSN, and even thought it was what is becoming a typical Seb Vettel victory, thought it was pretty entertaining. The Red Bull team are going to be tough to beat in the seasons ahead. Vettel's humble words after the race were pretty profound, he's got a lot of poise for a 26 year old.

Once again, some good racing behind the leader, with some daring passes for points positions. Hopefully that will get even better next year with the tech changes.

What was that stuff about Di Resta leaving Force India to go to (gulp) IndyCar? He pretty much lifted them out of the dregs with Marussia and Caterham this year, and Sutil didn't impress me all that much. I'll have to scan the racing sites and see if it's anything more than Diffey fantasizing about Dario whispering in Chip Ganassi's ear.

Simona to Sauber, now that's something to consider. She does well on road courses. Only if they can make 2 + 2 = 5, right?

They probably moved the race to a sub channel. I love sports as much as the next guy but the storms and aftermath was much more important and that's a fundamental job for mass media - especially broadcast media. It's really no different than when NBC moved a NASCAR race to TNT back in 2001 because the United States launched a strike against the Taliban in Afghanistan. Or when NBC moved a football game to NBCSN to air an address from the President of the United States after the massacre at Sandy Hook.

You're not letting logic prevail.

Is it a win if your face looks better after you get beat up? Because it would seem like KyBu would be in a win-win situation if they got in a scrum.

Pretty good racing...behind Vettel, of course. Grosjean continues his solid streak and Webber gets his best consecutive results of the year. Good day.
Unfortunately, we seem to say that every GP.

There was a piece on NBCSports' website about how the crowd was so great, the ALMS race was so great, but the F1 race was boring and F1 needs to do something or the Austin crowd will lose interest. I don't know what race that guy was watching, there was some good racing there outside from P2 on back.

Rossi. Daly. Gutierrez again.
There, it's fixed. That'll be 20 million, Bernie.
