F1: 2021 Styrian Grand Prix

Well that’s not how he needed to start his weekend. It’s always tough for him in traffic it seems. Mercedes are really being pushed in every aspect by Red Bull, interesting that they feel they’re losing time out of the pit box and tried something different.
If you were testing a way to get out of the pit faster, it would makes sense you'de do it with the car in the hot pit like you'de just changed tires. Coming out of the garage you have to turn the car a lot harder, so it's not the same thing. I think it's likely Botas just spun the car because everything is going against him right now.

You might be on to something though. FIA Forces Teams to Slow Down F1 Pit Stops — Should It? - The News Wheel I read an opinion somewhere (can't remember) that this was done because Red Bull has six of the seven fastest pit stops so far this year. Not sure what to make of that, but we've seen the FIA play favorites before.

I’m a bit confused. How does a spin warrant a penalty of any kind? I saw that little clip and he simply spun out taking off.

That is not dangerous driving in my opinion. The guy lost control, and that should be the end of it.

The FIA is so reactionary is not even funny. Some guy comes on the radio to complain and Masi just says yep, GRID PENALTY!!

Next guy who spins on pit road better get the same treatment.

The problem was this was in the pits, and you can't let that go unpunished. A three grid place penalty is probably fair, but the penalty points were a bit excessive.

I definately see your side of this and partially agree, but I believe there's got to be some sort of rule in the book on this, or at least there should be....one way or the other.

FIA officials are often referred to as 'little Napoleans."

Damm, I hope Botas' weekend improves.

Also I feel I should stipulate I don’t really care for Bottas. Lol

I have been harsh on the guy but these nonsense penalties are garbage. FIA always wanting to play a role in championships.

Daniel Ricciardo continues to underperform. Should have stayed with Red Bull.
Norris is mopping the floor with him so far, I hope he picks it up in the back half because Pato O’Ward already had that young driver test lined up and Zak is really big on him. Ricciardo might be out of chances (or at least good ones) if he gets pushed out and I’d rather see Pato in IndyCar.

Weather here for tomorrow looks promising. Rain is likely so I might get up early to watch live.

There is a realistic chance the World Championship won't be a Merc driver.
It's starting to look very probable. This doesn't quite fit with our view of reality though. Mercedes has been utterly untouchable for seven years, but now this? It's always shocking to see the world turned upside down, but here we are.

Still a lot to be settled and a DNF by Max could put Hamilton back in the points lead.

All Hamilton needs to do is win the next three races and that will propel him into the lead no matter what Verstappen does. So, Hamilton doesn't need Verstappen to blow up. He just needs to beat him. It's not out of control yet.

Absolutely. However, Hamilton is probably right that they need an upgrade. The way the Red Bull pulled away on the straight was very telling.

Thought I read somewhere Red Bull is definitely still pumping money into this year’s package and Mercedes has stopped messing with this year and preparing for next year.

Could be Red Bull is going all in to win this year at the cost of risking falling behind with next year’s new deal. Thinking Mercedes needs to take one on the chin and not give in. Losing 1 of 8 seasons is not the end of the world. They already utterly destroyed everyone in the hybrid era.
