F1 2025 News/Misc.

F1 already has one of the shortest feature race lengths of all the big forms of motorsport, with plenty of one-stop races to boot. We’re going to make them even shorter based off of how many views highlight videos get on YouTube?
Do highlight videos get so many views because they're short or because they're the only way to watch anything for free?

It's a long way until these changes are actually implemented. Ecclestone threatened similarly ridiculous stuff 15-20 years ago. I'd be surprised to see any of that. Maybe they'll have more sprints but no way the teams are gonna agree to reverse grids.
If young people are losing interest in Formula 1, then that's likely the problem. The racing itself is boring asf after lap one. But the executives will see young people losing interest and just assume that Tik Tok-ifying the races and adding a **** load more gimmicks is the solution instead of improving the racing quality.
Thing is look at the viewership numbers. F1 ratings among the so-called target demographic are great, NASCAR can only dream of those numbers. There is no need to make changes in order to attract younger viewers.

Most races are shorter than 90 minutes. All movies are longer than that and I have not ever seen anyone complain about F1 races being too long.

The racing needs to be fixed. The ground effect cars did reduce the dirty air issue but they're simply too huge for like half the tracks on the schedule.
I also don't get why the tracks are getting repaved every other year? Is that really necessary?
Tires are an issue as well. Why can't we get tires like 2011 or 12 again? There constantly was something going on in every race.

90 minutes can drag if there isn't much passing.
That would be something that would probably make you want to change the actual racing product itself rather than make a mediocre product shorter.

We’ve already seen this play out quite a bit with the Sprint format. There’s minimal strategy component since most everyone starts on the same tire and don’t have to pit, the balance doesn’t change much since everyone starts with and burns less fuel, and everyone generally runs where they qualify. It’s not a great show, but it gets more eyeballs than another practice session.

Both drivers should tell their fathers to sit down and shut up. Nothing of value comes from family members chipping in their two cents, centavos, ha'pennies, rupees, etc.

Zak Brown has been uniquely famous for saying he lets drivers
have at it, "just don't take each other out". No team orders.
Well that tune seems to be changing. It would do the team
good to double back and reiterate "let the best man win, just don't take
each other out" and I would add - no pit road shenanigans, good for
fans and F1 in general. Eight races left leaves plenty of time for intrigue
and drama.

Would be funny if Verstappen wins the title because they let Norris steal 3 points from Piastri.

It would take one the most incredible comebacks in history for Verstappen to overtake Piastri.
If Verstappen were to win every remaining race and Piastri were to finish third in every one of those races, he still wouldn't catch him.

They only way I see Verstappen winning it all this year would be for McClaren to have a lot of DNFs, paired with Verstappen winning most of the remaining races.

I had to laugh at the Jim Beam sponsorship with the Cadillac F1 team. Good for them but I don't think of Jim Beam when it comes to a premier brand such as Cadillac.

I have doubts about the effectiveness of sponsorship in an international series when current trade policies are driving hostile reactions to American liquors.

The American team Cadillac, after conducting a full Italian Grand Prix weekend simulation, is set to make its first on-track debut with a TPC car, featuring Mexican driver Sergio Perez. Next week, Sergio Perez will take part in a test session in the United Kingdom with a Ferrari provided by the Scuderia.
