F1 and NASCAR aces to swap seats

On June 11th at the Montreal race weekend, Juan Montoya will yield his 900+ horsepower FW25 over to 5 time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon. Jeff states that this has always been something he has wanted to do (drive an F1 car) and is very happy to see it come true. On the other side, Juan Montoya will take the reigns of the Chevy rainbow crew for his run. Montoya also states that he has had some wishes to drive a nascar but also says that Jeff need not worry about losing his job.
My own comments on this include, watch out for montoya, he bangs wheels with five time world champions in open wheeled cars, let alone something with fenders. As for Jeff Gordon, have fun and hopefully it will go better than your Rally test experience(where he and Gronholm flipped several times).
By the way, if you were wondering, they are not switching for the actual races of course, but just a practice session each, most likely totally by themselves.

hmmm...sounds like fun...But going from a NASCAR to an F1? eek! I hope the whole Williams crew are there to scrap a once F1 car off a wall...lol

Have fun guys! Keep safe.

lol, i think gordon will take it easy but if you know canada, there isnt much room to spin without taking some concrete with you.

Hopefully they will go threw with the swap test at Indy this year. There was talk about this last year but at the last minute the Williams team backed out. This will also be the first time a Winston Cup car has every been on the road course at Indy.

Something I remember from when I went to the race at indy last year for the F1 GP, was that the McLaren team let Sarah Fisher take like three or four laps in their car. Pretty odd yet cool to see a woman drive an F1 car. I also hear she was pretty quick for never driving a car that powerful plus the new track.

Jeff has some open-wheel experience, so he shouldn't embarrass himself. I am curious as to how well he would do if he decided to switch to open-wheel full time. It will never happen, but it would be interesting to see how he would do.

They did this last year. Not sure what they're trying to prove because most people from either side of the racing fence could give two craps about the other drivers.

The reason they are doing this is so they can get more people interested in the F1 race at Indy. They figured by people seen Jeff and Juan practice on the road course in both cars that it would interest them to come back to see the U.S. GP. They backed out at the last minute last year because they felt that the practice session was to close in time to the U.S GP so they canceled it.

At the same time Indy might be trying to get another race on the road course so they decided to let Jeff check out the track.
