So what if they ran F1 like sports car racing.? The big three would be group I and the rest would be group II. I went back and did the points on it.
pts wins podiums
Button 63 5 7
Heidfeld 52 2 6
Fisichella 45 3 5
Trulli 42 2 5
Irvine 37 3 4
Massa 37 - 6
Villeneuve 35 1 4
Salo 24 - 4
Panis 16 - 2
Webber 12 - 1
Now thats what I call a points race, only this week did Button clinch. Remamber in Germany Massa gave up a position to Heidfeld ( a win in this sytem), and that would mean that 7 drivers have wins this season. If you look at it this way you could say that F1 is very competitive (from 5th on back).
By the way congratulations to Renault thier 105 pts also clinched the constructors. Followed by Sauber 87, Jordon 57, BAR 51, Jaguar 47, Toyota 36, Minardi at 17, and Arrows 8th with 10 pts.
