I love the feel and vibe. The scenery is unmatched. The Gran Prix movie from the 60s used the great scenery to perfection. I will be watching.

But it is almost impossible to pass there, they need to mandate running the super soft tires the whole race, and make the whole track a DRS zone just to shake things up.

I can't think of many things that are cooler then those F1 cars exiting the tunnel. One of my favorite races of the year and can't wait.

I read somewhere that back in the days of V10/V12 F1 engines, the safety marshals that stood in the tunnel during the Monaco GP had to wear ear protection because the noise of the engines created waves of air pressure that would blow out the ear drums of unprotected ears.

Pirelli are bringing the two softest tire compounds to Monte Carlo, I forgot to post the link to that info, sorry:

TYRE ALLOCATION
The race will be the last before Pirelli introduces a modified tyre range in Canada. Due to its tight, twisty nature, the Monaco track (the slowest on the calendar) does not place undue stresses on tyres; as such the soft and supersoft rubber have been nominated.

I hope Pirelli knows what they're doing. The option tires have had the consistency of pencil erasers this year it seems.

Though, I do have to give them credit. Their option tires definitely are faster than the primes. The "Firestone Reds" in IndyCar don't seem to be any faster than the blacks. Seems like every road course race the announcers are stunned that driver XYZ is keeping up on the Firestone Blacks.

The announcers and fans also seem to forget that car setup is a major factor to tire wear in both series (NASCAR announcers and fans seem to understand it better, probably because of the obvious mechanical adjustments made during pit stops, i.e.: track bar wrench etc.). Could be why Kimi and Lotus are given so much credit, maybe they just set up for less tire wear and Raikonnen gets the most out of that configuration.

I think American oval racing adjusts the suspension in each corner of the car for a given track. In F1 I think they used to only adjust front rear balance (assuming even balance for left and right turns on a road course). An Indaycar driver (Montoya or Villennue) used the American oval concept in F1 to optimize the car for a particular corner. The engineers said it wouldn't work but he made the pass work and disproved that it would be detrimental to opposite turns so I'm guessing they have evolved their car balance ideas.

DON'T READ THE LINK BELOW if you don't want to know who is on the pole. To that note, does anyone know why the 'link' icon is disabled (grayed out) on the toolbar? I was going to hide that bit of info.

Interesting qualifying session, as the drivers saw the first bit of rain all week. Some interesting tire strategy at play, but more importantly, a costly error by one of the top teams' driver in the final practice.

I suppose there was pre-race that I missed. My local NBC station was at local news, covering the exciting world of early Saturday Memorial Day Weekend news until about 30 seconds ago when the grid was already on the warmup lap.

Vettel driving like he has a fire under his ass.

Can't wait for Frank to fire Maldonado. Guy is awful.

written in small text in monotone dedication to kimi ray. go kimi.

I missed it even tho I had the telly on.........how bad was it? They didn't show much in the way of replays.

he hit first and lost his left front, and then he slid sideways into a barrier at a high speed section. Looks like he hurt his neck

They should put on nerf style bumper bars and run Monoco like Bowman Gray
