Hamilton wins pole, Vettel second but will take a 3 grid penalty.
Boring weekend so far.
So, situation normal?
I had no clue F1 was in the US this weekend. I acknowledge I don't follow the series, but I would have thought it would have been promo'ed during something else I was watching. Guess not.
Wow. Hamilton wins the pole. What a surprise! Whoever gets out in front over the first few turns (likely Hamilton) will almost certainly win the race. Why do they even both running races in that series?
I'm looking forward to the race and hoping Vettel has the pace to mount some sort of challenge without being a bonehead. No, F1 has not been entertaining in the past month or so. It was for several rounds earlier in the season. I am not particularly interested in reading about disinterest from those who never find F1 worthwhile anyway.
It does seem like the general hype machine in mass media is rather muted this year. Not sure why.
ESPN doesn't bother to run ads for it. They barely paid for rights to broadcast without even putting their own people on it. It's basically on auto pilot.
Really hope NBC comes back but it will be have to be different given how ESPN had to change the game and run the races without interuption. I think that changes the game somewhat.
I'd still take Leify, hobbs and that other guy whose name I cant remember with the commercials though. Brundle and his pals can get a bit annoying with their homerism.
I actually saw a lot of ads for it during their college football coverage today. I think they've run several features during SportsCenter and Good Morning America as well.
Granted, I don't think that will make a dent in viewership, but ESPN actually somewhat tried this week.
I don't know what the forecast is but it's rained a little bit this weekend, hopefully that happens Sunday too.
That explains how I've missed it. I don't watch ESPN, and only look at ABC occasionally.
Looking for something to be interested in today? These are my key interests today:
Can Grosjean have a good day starting 8th.
And these 3 drivers knotted up with 53 points each:
Grid start ………………………... Driver
7 ………….…………………. Hulkenberg
10 ………..…………………….. Perez
12 …………………………….. Magnussen
Wow what a start.
Vettel choking on a dick again. Insane start
Classic Vettel. Ugh.
Can’t wait for Ferrari to blow this for Kimi with goofy strategy or a bad stop.
Well that was a fun start.
So much for Vettel not being a bonehead. That wasn't going to happen.
Kimi is out!
Hopefully he's not eating the tires up like he did at Monza. Control the pace.
Vettel made yet another bonehead move.
This could finally be Kimi's first chance to win in a long time.
Stroll forgot to stay within the lines.
What a mess of a start.
Looks like he is eating them tires up.
Is that like the tenth time Ricciardo has dropped out of race this year or something? Absolutely unreal.
Vettel sure gets a lot of breaks. That should have been a penalty.
Danny Ric's luck is absolutely gone with RBR.
Why does Raikkonen not pit? I'm afraid they screwed him over again.
It sure looks like ferrari screwed up again.
A freshed pitted Hamilton..in third? A matter of time, imo.
Banking on tire durability is better than Merc's. In most cases, it has been on hot tracks for Ferrari.
They can basically run the whole race on the yellow tires.
They should make the tires softer again and the fact that they have six different tire compounds is completely ridiculous.
Well Ferrari just bailed out Mercedes there.
It amazes me how fast you can be on new tires and be held up by someone on 20 lap old tires.
Mercedes might be screwed. No way can Hamilton make it to the end competitively
Ferrari actually favoring Kimi for once. About time.
He should be good. He doesn't need to drive as fast as he can right now.
Depends on how hard Hamilton rides them. Kimi was able to go a long ways with ultra softs.
The German commentators are nearly falling asleep.
So far the broadcast is commercial, talking Vettel's strategy, commercial, talking Vettel's strategy, commercial...
It has been fairly interesting, imo.
The strategies have been entertaining thus far. We have Kimi, Verstappen and Hamilton all in play.
Hamilton's rear tires are blistering bad.
I would definitely pit Hamilton right now.
Is Mercedes waiting for a miracle? Pit, you dumb *****.
Oh, Ferrari may have been right for once.
15 laps and 17 seconds lead too late.
Bottas is the ultimate bitch boy.
Yeah, the race is quite interesting, but almost half of the broadcast consists of commercials. Maybe they have more commercials because it's a prime time race.
Since ESPN has leeched off Sky Sport's feed they dont cut to commercials. They tried to in the first race and it was a debacle so they went flag to flag after it.
