Today is the first day of fall, I"m thankful to be here, but it's a sad season. Evverything turning brown.
First day of Fall and no tkj, where is she?
Her uncle (which is also one of my daughter's father-in-law) has been in critical condition. He is having surgry as I type.
He fell last Wednesday and broke his hip. He has lots of other medical problems that has complicated things. Please say a prayer for him and his family.

Did you ever make it all the way up to Mabry's mill in Virginia? Great little place to stop, rest, get some icecream or what ever and hit the bathroom. If you go all the way on the parkway, it'll take you a couple of hours at 45 mph...as long as others go that fast. We just might have to do that trip this year if I can get a day off.this is the best time of the year IMO, football is just getting started and I cant wait for the leaves to start changing so the wife and I can make that trip from Boone to Asheville on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Yeah, I've been there. Nice place and good cornmeal. The Parkway is nice but you better not be in any hurry..Did you ever make it all the way up to Mabry's mill in Virginia? Next vacation is Thanksgiving week and we're heading to Oklahoma to have a mini reunion with my folks. It's hard to get out there very often and this could be one of the last times all of the family can get together.Yeah, I've been there. Nice place and good cornmeal. What do you mean if you can get a day off, don't you get vacation.
Ya' know I think I read somewhere that here in NC the high yesterday was just above freezing. They are expecting a long and hard winter for the next several years. I know if I knew someone that was thinking about moving here I'd caution against it unless they really loved living in a deep freezer. Only to be thrown into the frying pan with temps above 115 the other half of the year. And the humidity!! Fish are swimming 2 feet above the river the humidity is so high. On some days you have to wear a scuba tank just to keep from drowning. Yep, this is not a State to move to by anyone...
Priorities, buckaroo, priorities.Next vacation is Thanksgiving week and we're heading to Oklahoma to have a mini reunion with my folks. It's hard to get out there very often and this could be one of the last times all of the family can get together.
I do get Sundays off but racing and football have me under control, especially during that time of the year.
I think my 82 year old father has the priority on fall color...and btw, so does racing and football.Priorities, buckaroo, priorities.

Yea we stopped at Mabry Mill last year when we were camping at a state park in VA, that place was really neat.
Mabry Mill is nice but I much prefer your drive from Boone to Asheville. That is a spectacular drive, but again, you must allow lots of time. The more I think of it, the more I think I will take a day off work, no pay, and make the drive and view the beautiful foliage and scenery.
We usually go the other way, but might have to try going south next time.its an all day trip for us...drive from charlotte to boone, and then pickup the parkway and then drive drive from Asheville to charlotte.
To anyone that hasnt done it....its worth the drive.

Hey guys thanks for all the prayers. With the trip and then all the hospital visits it has been a bit overwhelming. Everything is looking up though.
