If you are a fan of NASCAR, Formula 1 and/or Indycar then you are going to like this article. I decided to pick 9 legendary racers from across the globe who lost their lives on the track and give a summary of their life, their death and their legacy. We are closing in fast on the most important day on the motorsport schedule and I thought it would be cool to remember some of racing's greatest that were lost and educate those that don't know all of these brave men who paid the ultimate sacrifice while chasing the checkered flag.

Good article. You must be playing with my eyes though, I had to almost kiss the screen to read your post. Thanks for sharing. I was fortunate enough to see Fireball and Weatherly race. Thanks to many of these fallen heroes we now have many of the safety features we have today and there are less career ending accidents and drivers are extending their careers.

No most of the races I attended were in the NC, SC, and Va. areas. I've been to Daytona but not for a Nascar race. I've seen some of the videos of that race, it seemed to be a crash fest.
