Fan Killed In Road Rage Incident
Three Jacksonville men were charged today in the shooting death of a Land O' Lakes man during a road rage incident on Interstate 4 Sunday night, authorities said today.

David P. Edwards, 21, was charged with second-degree murder and Ronlee A. Harvin, 21, and Charles J. Onasanya, 18 were charged with principal to second-degree murder, a spokesman for the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said. All were booked in the Seminole County jail.

Other motorists witnessed the shooting and called the Sheriff’s Office with a description of the vehicle with those involved in the shooting. Deputies spotted the Ford Explorer near the Volusia/Seminole County line and the vehicle was stopped. All four occupants were detained for questioning but one man eventually was released. You know, it surprises me that this doesn't happen more often. I wonder if the 20-somethings had been downing adult beverages all day.

Sitting in the stands watching some of the people doing nothing but throwing down cold ones, frequently makes me very nervous about leaving the track and driving.

Very sad story.

Same here. At Charlotte we found a bullet right behind where we were sitting in the stands. :AHHHH:

FORD Explorer? I'll bet Jack Roush is to blame.

On a serious note, what in hell is wrong with people today? Even if you get to the point where you want to kill someone, wouldn't the thought of spending your life in prison kind of make you think that this may NOT be the best idea?

That, and when did people start to lose repsect for one another? I sure as hell don't know but I will say that IMHO opinion if you feel the need to settle minor disputes in that manner, do us all a favor and turn the gun 180 degrees before you pull the trigger.

Patrick, I wish I had an answer. Personally, I place some blame on the gratuitous violence that fills movies, TVs, and video games. Young people have no idea what death really is --- in their world, you kill someone, hit the reset button and the character comes back.

As for thinking about what happens after you pull the trigger --- they don't think. Consequences for their actions has no place in their thinking.

TRL, I know what you're saying but I guess it just frustrates me to no end when I read/hear crap like that.

I know, Patrick.

It frustrated me for years when I taught school. Students would do something stupid, get caught, and have to pay the piper. I would ask them what they were thinking when they did it --- most would tell me, "I didn't think I'd get caught."

As far as I'm concerned, teachers deserve as much respect - if not more - as anyone out there. Where they find the patience I'll never know.

That being said, I think I'll get away from this computer for a while and do something prodcutive with my day off.

Have a good one :)

I place the blame more on ... civilization. Think about how many people think that food comes from stores .... instead of farms. Hospitals save people all the time too. Even funerals ... the body's all made up to look like it's only sleeping, isn't it?

Sadly, the thought of spending your life in jail for taking a life isn't much of a detterant. The average time someone spends in jail for taking a life in modern day America is more like 8 years. :(

Even the death penalty isn't much of a threat either, because even when they do finally put one of the psychos down it is 10 years or more after the fact.
