Fans' all time favorite track?

This is not a poll. We occasionally see threads asking what track should be dropped from the schedule or even bull dozed to the ground here on this forum. We have over a thousand members (though only a small part of that total post with much regularity) so I figure we have a pretty good cross section of NASCAR fans. What I want to ask is what track would you think that the majority of all NASCAR fans think is the best track for good competitive Winston Cup racing. Not the type of track (ie "cookie cutters", short, restrictor plate, etc.). Just the track.

I'm going to go with Richmond. It is always good racing there except for the spring race. Since Richmond is not putting a new sealer on the track this year they should have two very good races there.

ummm, thats an easy one I would have to say Bristol, Richmond, Darlington:D

Rockingham
Darlington
Dover
Richmond
Martinsville

If I had to pick one....Rockingham

Kel

Anything under one and one-tenth miles in ovals and almost any road course presently on the NWCS circuit.

The tracks I enjoy the most:

Martinsville
Dover
Bristol
Phoenix
Sonoma
Richmond

But I guess I'd have to pick the night race at Bristol as my favorite race. Love the night races!!

Crap, how could I forget Darlington?

Guess I'm not narrowing this down very much;)

Those are my picks for close racing. Darlington is my favorite track by far, followed by Rockingham, Charlotte, Michigan, Richmond, Pocono, then Bristol and Dover. Talk about not really narrowing it down, huh?

DEW,

From the question you posed, "What I want to ask is what track would you think that the majority of all NASCAR fans think is the best track for good competitive Winston Cup racing? Not the type of track (ie "cookie cutters", short, restrictor plate, etc.). Just the track." I would respond that in the years I've been talking with people about racing, two events generate the most excitement and seem to reach the largest audience, in short gather up even more than the die-hard race fan core, that would be the Daytona 500 and the Bristol night race.

As far as a track that is the best for good competitive WC racing I think my personal pick would be Darlington, it's a tough non-forgiving track that doesn't allow for any errors, and when you are done racing the track you look and see you you've got to beat to the finish line. You have to have the best and be the best to bring home the trophy. There, that's my nickel's worth.

Other top dawgs for a good show Martinsville, Dover, Charlotte.

Looks like this thread has run it's course so I'm name the track I think most NASCAR fans would pick as their all time favorite........Darlington.:D

I found it interesting that very few could name just one track. Which makes sense to me because it was hard for me decide which one track would be the favorite. I also found it interesting that there was big a difference in the passion for your choice of favorite vs your choice of least favorite. It's easier to negative than positive?:(

These are just my opinions........not looking for any argument.

earnhardt jr is number 1
that eight car will have a real good run
thirty to ten finishes to be sure
watch FOX and NBC and you'll see
this occur
So Dale strap in get the show on the road
every ticket to Daytona 500 will be sold
He'll take the number eight chevy right
to the front
people who pass him will have
pulled a stupid stunt
he'll hunt you down
like a hungry beast
then have you all for
a tasty feast
Go earnhardt go!

Bristol---My fav track anyway--just love that action they have at those races!:) Wish that was the first race to start with.

I find it interesting that Nobody is mentioning the cookie-cutter tracks on Their fave track lists, yet this type makes up ca. 68% of the different track types on the NASCAR curcuit.
IMO,seems that NASCAR is going more after the bigger tracks with more seating & therefore more $$$$$$$$$$$$$,even tho most fans site the short tracks, road courses & RP tracks as Their faves!Looks like NASCAR would want to cater more to the track types that the fans enjoy the most,JMO!:)

Bristol. But I like Nazareth too b/c it's nearby me and I always go there, but still Bristol all the way.
