This week could be the beginning of the end for a championship season for one player. A win on Sunday, if in the Chase, will mean a spot in the Championship 4 at Homestead. Last week we eliminated four players, Jakub Smetana (#42), Nascarnana (#60), Oldschoolracing519 (#18), and David (#97). In the Truck Series, the scenario is the same. Except only two players were eliminated; Kevin20fan (#20) and Braindead Zombie (#88).
The 8 remaining players in Sprint Cup and the 6 remaining in Truck will compete for the next 3 consecutive weeks to decide the Championship 4. All the points have been reset and as we have seen so far already, anything can happen.
Please remember that we do have awards that will be given out at the end of the season, just a few weeks away. They will be:
Statistically given:
Rookie of the Year - Highest finishing rookie
Most Improved Predictor - Highest margin of gain from last season
Close Call Award - Most 2nd place finishes
4th Quarter Performance Award - Best performance in 4th quarter of the season
Voted by Peers:
Heart Break Award - Most Surprising Chase Elimination
Underdog Award - Most Surprising Chase Performance
Wild Card Award - Most Surprising MVP win
**Most Popular Predictor Award - Tournament style voting to decide the favorite among competitors
I also apologize for the delay in getting this post out. There's been a thing called a Chicago Cubs World Series that has been throwing my entire week out of wack, and I expect it to make some sort of an impact this weekend especially. I will do the best I can to give you all as much attention as necessary, but you must also understand I might also not be as readily available as you may want me to be. I mean, we're talking about the Chicago Cubs in the World Series here. (P.S. as of 7:30 this morning local time, there's already hundreds of people lined up outside Wrigley Field. It's big. It's happening)
One thing that would really help me out is re-registering for 2017. Now that we are in the final weeks of the season, I'm very close to finalizing these numbers that you have chosen. Remember that numbers are not finalized until the week of Homestead and that returning players get priority choice. For time purposes, I will refrain from posting the roster here.

The 2016 Player's Council has been a success this year, I think. It has really helped to build ideas for coming years. I'm not done with them just yet, but sometime in January, we will begin a new year of the Player's Council. This week, I will begin to take, for the lack of a better term, applications to be on the 2017 Player's Council. If you didn't make it on the 2016 Council or just want to be a part of it next year, please email me your username and state interest in being a part of the Council. Please understand that by being a part of the Council, the other players in the Council would be able to see your name and email. I understand not all would be comfortable with that, so I just want you to make you aware of that.

If people start using Twitter or email, I may appoint someone mid-season to represent that aspect of the league as well.
Keep in mind that no official announcement about who will be on the 2017 Council will be made until January. You may begin applying, but this is just something to think about for now.
