Twice in Winston Cup (Grand National, etc) history a father has raced against two of his sons on the track.

The last time it happened was at Michigan where the tour is this weekend. The first time was at a track long abandoned by the show.

Was this Lee racing against Richard and Maurice when Maurice was trying his hand?? The track?? Might be Hillsboro, but that is a stab in the dark. If it ain't right, then I couldn't tell ya and it ain't cricket to look it up. I try to answer this stuff from memory. Further testing of the mind has been conclusive in determining I have a case of CRS-A, "can't remember $*** - avanced". At least it is an opener for an excuse.

:D

Yep.

Lee raced both Richard and Maurice in 1960 at Dixie Speedway (also known as Midfield) in Birmingham. A quarter mile paved oval. Lee ran the #42, Richard ran the #43, and Maurice ran the #44.

Richard started and finished 2nd, Lee started and finished 3rd, and Maurice started 5th and finished 8th.

Touch of CRS myself..it actually has its benefits if correctly used in certin domestic situations! LOL

Dixie speedway......Midfield,just west of Birmingham and only about two miles from where BIR is now?A little before my time but a great piece of trivia.

Oh yeah...been a tough week around here. Was It the Sauters at Michigan?Pretty sure it was.Father Jim and sons Jay and Johnny...final answer.

Very nice try........but no.

It is a highly noted racing family in the NASCAR world.

K.I.S.97....the Earnhardts,Senior,Jr and Kerry?Although I am out of the running for the million after my last 'final answer'.I missed the obvious 'WC' part of the question..the Sauters ran the CTS.

Indeedy......in 2000

Both Kerry, who was driving Dave Marcis' #71, and Jr outqualified the old man. Of course come raceday they were no match for him. Dale finshed 6th, while Jr managed a 31st and Kerry a 43rd...........
