Well, now that the cold weather is beginning to shove on through and racing season is over, it's time to think of warmer places...at least for some of us. While there are those of you who might prefer the colder climate and snow for vacationing, I prefer the sun, the sand and the surf of the Caribbean. About every other year, the Mrs and I head off down to somewhere in the Caribbean. First it was Cancun, then we took a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean which included San Juan, Tortola BVI and St Thomas of the USVI. Last year, we again went to Mexico, but this time south of Cancun at what is called the Mayan Riviera. On those off years, we settle for our own coast on a small island name Topsail Island, one of the barrier island. As you can see, we are water people and that's where we prefer to vacation. How about you?

I like the snow...but I would love to go to Clearwater , FL again. It is so pretty there..

My unltimate vactaion spot would be Daytona Beach, From the 24 hours untill the end of the 500. I would camp out around the speedway and go to the track every day possible. Also go to other places like DinseyWorld, Miami, and other cool area is Florida.

Never took a winter vacation. Hmmm, not a bad idea though. My favorite place to go is Cimarron, New Mexico for back-packing in the Rockies. Peace & quiet, no crowds, no electric, to phones, no wife, er now don't tell her I said that! Just lots of beautiful scenery and nature. It's nice to just mellow out for a couple of weeks. Of course you can't get race results either!:-(

My favorite vacation spot is HOME, but me daughter tells me that Costa Rica is magnificent.. Gulf and Pacific coasts, beaches, rainforest, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, and on and on. She has been there three times.

That's funny, my MIL's boyfriend, who is 85, tells me the same thing. We were going to Belize last November for our anniversary, but the events of 911 changed all that. At first, the Mrs didn't want to leave the country, but I talked her into at least going to Mexico and the Mayan Riviera. That ended up costing us much less and we did so enjoy it. Never left the resort and snorkled every day. The only draw back about this trip was the bed. Though it was a king size bed, it was hard as a rock and the pillows were only about two inches thick. :( Now the Mrs has said that she feels like a cruise, so we will probably be looking into one of those soon. Would love to take my folks, but mother feels a bit too old. She's 80. We told her she wouldn't have to do much but sit and enjoy the breeze. :)

CB, I'd forget about the cruise for now...cruise ships are sick or burning at an alarming rate right now.

I hear that Aruba and Curacao are wonderful!

And Virginia is for Lovers! I love the Appalacian Trail and Luray Caves.

I'd love to spend it on the Appalachian Trail myself, but I don't think that'd fly with the rest of the family. I'm only 10 minutes from it anyway, and still don't go as often as I'd like. Scotland would be nice, as would Tahiti.

Outer Banks, south of Cape Hatteras....will probably retire there...
