Arright folks, what's your favorite war movie? War movies have always been a significant part of our culture but this year, unfortunately no war movies will be out in the theatres.

I liked the Great Escape because it blends some comedy in with the dramatic desperation of the Allied pilots trying to escape from a German POW camp in World War II. Plus, it has that motorcycle chase scene with Steve McQueen when he's trying to outrun the Germans.

I also liked Blackhawk Down, it showed that soldiers dont just fight for a flag or a cause or something out on a battlefield, they fight for each other. Not only that, it actually provided a good account of the War in Somalia in 1993 and how the Army Rangers and Delta Force fought their way through thousands of armed militiamen.

It's a tie for me, Heartbreak Ridge and Saving Private Ryan. :bazooka:

I don't know if it's my favorite but Windtalker with Nickolas Cage is a good one and Braveheart is good with Mel Gibson

Wait....

Would you consider "Stripes" a war movie? If so, that is my favorite B)

Toss up between Kelly's Heroe's and Apcoclypse Now. How can you not love a movie with the line " I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

Blackhawk Down was really good! forgot about that one.

Blackhawk Down and Saving Private Ryan was a pretty good description of war as far a realism goes...Full Metal Jacket was good as far as Marine Corps bootcamp back in the day, but after the movie shows them in Viet Nam, it geta a little out of whack.
