Gangs Allegedly Target Police

(Washington) -- An international gang has allegedly put Fairfax County police officers on a hit list.

The Latino gang has ties to the Washington area. The Washington Times reports the gang sent about 20 of its members from California to Fairfax County last month, to kill a county officer at random.

The gang, called MS 13, reportedly was upset because an officer has not been killed. A man who works with Latino gangs on a D.C. youth task force says MS-13 members may not have had a specific reason to go after police except to show some muscle.

He says other gang members have accused those in Fairfax of not being as violent as the group wants. The gang members from California may have come here to see why no action was taken.

Last month, 15 suspected members of MS-13 were arrested in Leesburg after a 25-year-old man was attack with a machete.

Maybe someday we can make street gang affiliation a crime in and of itself. Then we can lock 'em all up, take 'em to some remote place, and let them kill one another.

This gang has been around for a long time. Even when I worked with Prince William P.D. we had a lot of dealings with them. The threats really pick up around Halloween and holidays that are celebrated with with fireworks. That way, the gunshots might possibly confused with firecrackers and Halloween gives them an excuse to wear a mask.

Some of the treats actually go as far to name the officers. I had a threat against me when I worked in P.W.C.......the little "gang-banger" tagged a wall with the threat and put my name with it. I found out who it was, got a warrant for him, and locked him up. He had no idea who I was in person....

And TWF, I am all for that. Put the gangsters on wither end of a football fiels and a big box of ammo in the middle. Let have at each other.

My biggest fear is that some of the younger gang members may actually try this. they don't think before they act....they just act to gain "respect" or to show the deserve to be in a gang. I really hope I never get into a situation where I come across somebody trying to fulfill this threat, especially if he is 13 years old..........
 
OMG, Fergy, I knew this area was bad, but didn't know the dangers you guys go through daily. I guess I thought Arlington Co had it worse, and PWC would be safer but you never know. Praying for you and your co-workers, you guys do a great job for us!!! Thanks for all your hard work!
