$2,500 for violating Section 12-4-A (Actions detrimental to stock car
racing) and 12-4-Q (Any determination by NASCAR Officials that the car,
car parts, components and/or equipment used in the Event do not conform to
NASCAR rules) for having a windshield on the car that was not an approved
part and also did not meet the minimum required thickness of one-quarter
inch. The infraction was discovered by NASCAR officials during opening-day
inspection.
Harvick and Kahne were fined $10,000 : Drivers Kevin Harvick and Kasey
Kahne were fined $10,000 each and placed on probation for their actions
during an on-track incident that occurred after the conclusion of Sunday's
Nextel Cup Series race at Phoenix. They were penalized for violating
Section 12-4-A (Actions detrimental to stock car racing) of the NASCAR
Nextel Cup Series Rule Book when the two made deliberate contact with each
other following the conclusion of the race. Both drivers' probation
periods will extend to Nov. 30.
