Fires in Texas

Grizzled or crusty?

If you were here in Indiana, I would swear you smacked the back of my hands with a yard stick. :D

Yeah, I probably have a little "crusty" in me, also. :D

mike, if someone provided rain for us, you bet he/she would be a favorite. Have 2 big fires and several smaller ones here in Anderson County.

Y'all are looking like SoCal when the Sandy Andys blow!! It's scary crap! I have a friend who lives in Austin. I haven't heard from her in a long time... :(

Be safe, TRL!

Is Anderson county southeast of Dallas near Crocket? I lived in Beaumont for awhile.

I saw in the news this morning that your area had lost almost 500 homes to wildfire? Is it that bad or is the news blowing it up? ( They do that you know )

Best wish's to all my freinds in Texas!

Yes, we're SE of Dallas.

It's not us that's lost the 500 homes --- it is Bastrop, East of Austin. 25,000 acres burned. The fire has jumped the Colorado River twice. The fire is 16 miles long and 3 miles wide --- totally UNCONTAINED right now. Over 5,000 people evacuated.

And to be honest, the news doesn't do it justice --- Texas is burning.

Wow, that's incredible. It's usually us Californians that are ablaze. We've got the Super Scoopers here now, on loan from Canada. We also have 747 and a DC-10 Supertankers. They've really made a big difference on some of our biggest fires.

I saw a statistic that just blew me away --- since last November, Texas wildfires have burned an area the size of the state of Connecticutt.
