Every April or so, I'll buck and split about 2-3 cords of oak.I[I have some acreage up here]. I try to stay a year ahead of the game for seasoning purposes. Anyway, while chainsawing, and splitting, I tend to create new words to describe the often tedious and arduous task at hand.
Then come the cold weather, and seeing the look on some of my neighbors face when the fuel oil or propane truck makes a delivery,it makes it worthwhile. Especially when it gets really cold in Feburary, with a foot of snow on the ground, and I'm walking around the house in my Bermuda shorts and favorite racing shirt on,watching the wife use the snothrower on the driveway..
Ahhh, life is good...

A snothower? Ewwww

Gas company came out after the second year I had my pellet stove to replace my meter. They thought it was defective, or I had somehow by passed it because my useage had dropped so drastically.

Guy said "you got one of those" when he saw the stove. I just smiled and said yes. He wasn't a happy man.

Must be one of those fancy shovels.
She thinks it's fancy. When she's behind it

Hmmm, snotthrower (snowblower), I've had a few of those. These days I just use a broom. :D When it snows more than an inch, most everything closes down here. GP...am I right? :D

Sounds like my part of the woods ... :p

Snow? Is that the white stuff that supposedly falls from the sky and is really cold? Never seen it. ;)

I hava a Ariens Snothrower from 1968, my friends dad bought it new, and gave it to him. Last winter,he couldn't get it to start. It was donated to me, where upon further investigation I found the exhaust valve to be sticking, after spending $1.08 for a valve keeper, and installing it,[I bought 2],I fired up the old gal, and away we went. I called him up and said listen to this...He promptly hung up on me!!!!!!!!
Of course,we have not had any snowfall yet,but on the various test runs, it certainly made a wind coming out of the chute. And here's a tip.....
Use PAM or any other non-stick cooking spray for the moving parts, you'll be glad you did.Snow buildup can be aggravating. Don't be a simpleton and put your hand in to remove a clog....... Some people still do that foolishnes and it always makes wonder what they were thinking..
Anyway, the boss says I need to bring in more wood, cause it will close to 60 degrees Sunday.I don't care,Ill be watching the Patriots on my Birthday Big Screen!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell the threat of cold rain cancelled some Holiday things this weekend.
I used to live in Arlington in the early to mid 80's [Park Row],and I remember in 1986 it snowed right around Christmas Eve, and everybody went into a panic. I went into the Kroger's near Pioneer Parkway and bought bread and milk[Yankee instict], and people looked at me like I was from another planet!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I should have bought some beer too....

The way that area is now I would be surprised if they even sell milk& bread there.

I used to work in the Forum Mall at Picadilly Careteria doing maintenance, then was transfered to the Garland Picadilly. Are either one of those places still in existience?
Had some good times in the Forum Mall,Collectors Corner, the Cinema that used to make a big production of the newest movies, and a place that used to make a really good calzone right across from Chick-Fil-A in the Forum Mall.
Arlington was a hotbed of activity in the early to mid 80's, but eventually I wound up back home, and have been curious as to how much it has changed over the years. Now and then I get the urge to go to Texas Motor Speedway, but I know better.
All my ex'es live in Texas..............
And I'm a little bit older....
And so are they!

Forum Mall got tore down and rebuilt as a giant warehouse now.Six Flags Mall is up on the aution block and will probably be something else soon.

Gf and I went to A-ton Parade tonight after a party at theater Arlington, we watched from the truck. Wasnt too bad.

That kroger is still there I believe. I use Bowen to park row to get to school. Pantego took over a big chunk of bowen, park row, park springs, and pioneer. it's a VERY upclass area now. But that and the economy pushed stores out. Pantego christian academy bought the strip mall next door and converted the two biggest stores into their high school.

Hop on google street view, no need to visit.
