So next September me & my partner are going to see NASCAR in Dover. Are there track tours, meet & greets, talks etc? We want to do everything possible as we are coming over from England.

Welcome to the forum and the answer is Yes to all of these questions. This would probably have been a good thread for the NASCAR forum. All of the information that you need is available @ their web site http://www.doverspeedway.com or call (302)-883-6500 for more info. Enjoy the race.

If you mean the NASCAR .com then I don't seem to be able to sign up to post anything :( plus I though that this site was more active.

Should we get a winners circle ticket?

Welcome to the Forum!

There are many options depending on budget and time. I would strongly suggest attending the preliminary races as well as the CUP race. The K&N Series is quite competitive and the Nationwide Series has many talented drivers.

There is a wide range of things you can do before and after races. I would suggest getting a Pit Pass so that you can get better access to the cars.

On race days, remember to take ear plugs, sunscreen, sunglasses, maybe a seat cushion and water.

The SPRINT Fan-Vision system also looks pretty cool. This is a new system that replaces the previous generation of at-track media devices. You can rent one for the weekend. It has a small video screen and allows you to view various video streams and listen to several different channels of streaming audio. Well worth the investment, IMO.

Enjoy! And be sure to share your pictures!

oh yes we are going for the full weekend, we watch the Nationwide series as the sprint cup is unfortunately not on a channel we have :(

Def look into a pit pass. The winners circle tickets are only for sprint cup but is it worth it?

Get a pit pass for qualifying. Great autograph opportunities abound. Comfortable shooes are a must as is sunscreen. Check the rules on Dover's website regarding pit road apparel. Some allow shorts and sandals while others do not. Plan on arriving early and staying late if you want to avoid the traffic crush.

Check Jayki's for a list of local driver appearances as well.

Take some time to study the area on Google maps. It will help you keep your bearings as far as where you are and where to park. I would also make sure to have smart phone network access.

Rent a fan view. It's pretty much a must IMO.

Track your favorite drivers on Twitter. Lot's of up do date info.

Sit up high. The higher the better. You'll be able to see the entire track that way.

Be sure to enjoy the people watching. NASCAR attracts some hilarious characters and many are fun to observe.

Yeah, the people-watching is one of my favorite things about attending a NA$$CAR Race!
You get to see things like this!

Who knew that Bigfoot was a Dale Fan??

robbybee, I saw a young buck do something similar at Myrtle Beach, back when the Busch series stopped there. Only this idjit did it with suntan lotion, had his girl paint on the '3', and let himself burn around it. I don't know why he didn't leave the '3' unlotioned and have her paint around it.

Debraguk, welcome. Definitely take dpkimmel's advice and check out the Dover website. I haven't been to Dover, but most tracks allow you to bring in your own food and drink. Again, check the website. robbybee has a good starter list, but I'd add hats. If renting a FanVision device is too expensive, definitely consider renting a scanner. This will allow you to hear the drivers, spotters, and crew chiefs talking on their radios, similar to what you may hear bits and pieces of during the TV coverage. You may want to get a cheap grill, charcoal, and some sausages or hamburger patties. Cooking in the parking lot ('tailgating') prior to the race is very popular.

Feel free to ask those parked around you or seated next to you for help or advice. NASCAR fans are some of the friendliest in sports. Like the TV commercial says, "100,000 of your closest friends."

So should we get the monster mill club tickets or winners circle? but what actually happen at the winners circle.

We are staying across the road from the track so no real travel for us, we are staying Thursday to Tuesday.

hello debraguk, I went to the Dover race this past fall that Brad won, I'm not sure what the monster mill or winners circle deals are but I can tell you it's a great race no matter what kind of accomadations you get. I remember my very first race back in 1994 at Sonoma, I was sooo excited I almost threw up in the car on the way to the track. Have a good time & travel safe.
