Hello all,

I'm heading down to LV for the Shelby 427 this March and wondering if anyone could suggest what seats/sections I should be looking for? Also I've heard of the Hauler parade down the strip. Is this a yearly thing? If so what day do they usualy do this?

Any info or suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

One thing, be prepared for anything! LOL
Traffic and the sheer number of people.

Check out the website --- http://www.lasvegasmotorspeedway.com/

If you plan on driving to the track, leave early, early, early. Taking the bus might be a viable alternative.

As far as seating, front stretch as high up as you can get. I've sat in Turn 4 at the beginning of pit road and had excellent sight lines.

Oh, and take plenty of money.

Above all, have a grand time.

Thanks Texas Race Lady. I'll check that site out. When you where there did you get to see the Hauler parade?

Great, i'll be there waiting for them to roll on trough.

When you attended where you sitting in the Petty or Earnhardt section or in general seating?

Just wondering if it's worth the extra 100$ or so to go there?

I have sat in the Earnhardt Terrace once for the truck race, it is great seating, clear view of everything, some firends of mine always sit in the Petty Terrace and they love it also. and anywhere along the front stretch is nice seating as well if you are up high enough like TRL mentioned.
Another thing you want to remember is to bring a jacket or hooded sweatshirt, it can get cold out at the track, there is nothing around and if the wind starts up it can cool it off in a hurry. there were snow flurries a couple years ago for the busch/nationwide race, so it can get cold.
and I agree with TRL with the leaving early to get out there, traffic pretty much bites the big one getting in and out of there and there is construction on the interstate getting out to the track as well so it more than likely be slow going.

NM88Fan,
thanks for all the info.

I'm from Canada so Febuary Las Vegas weather will be like our May-June like weather....Ha ha ha..... We ran into that same issue at the Charlotte Oct Race a few years ago. We will be ready!

I've heard of the Lucky 7 Parking, anyone had any experience with that? We are renting a car but if the bus service is better we may just leave it parked at the hotel.

How early should someone leave to not get caught up? 5-6 AM or is that overkill?

I'm a veteran of Vegas , although i haven't gone since 06, if you are interested in tickets we have 4 that we would sell at face value. They are great seats 21 rows up about even with the exit of Pit Row. I can also give info on all the shuttle details, this is the best way to get to the race. Be prepared for cold weather also. In 06 i brought my winter clothes with me and even my long johns, it snowed during the Woo race Friday night, and on Saturday they had a delay in the Busch race because of sleet. The race is a week earlier i believe this year , so just be prepared. It is a very cool place for a race, lots to see and do. Pm me if you want details, and or the tickets. The tickets are for Cup qualifying, Nationwide, and Cup race.

Thanks to all,

Mopardh9 I appreciate the offer for the tickets but I'm covered on those. They are supplied, I just have to choose where I want to sit.

I've heard that the Earnhardt Terrace is facing the setting sun so you have it in your face the whole time it's going down? I'm decided to go for the terraces just because of the stadium steating. I'm sure the wife will apprecieate it even more than me!!!

Ok,
Again, thanks for all the info.

The wait is almost over......

Bus tranportation alternatives

I'm only going Sunday. Anybody know a "reasonably priced" bus transportation company I can use?

I was "almost" going to arrange a trip for this race. Be ware of what you sign up for at the track - like a free Petty Experience. Little did I know it was something promoted by Wyndam Resorts wanting to sell time shares and they just threw in the ride-alongs. The sales guy told me we could do them on race weekends. The more and more I thought about it and how much it was going to cost and the logistics of having to listen to their 3 hr or whatever it was speil, the more doubts I had. Good thing I called the Petty Experience and they told me they wouldn't do it on race weekends and I was able to cancel with no problems.

It would have been nice though since it's my b-day weekend, but I was concerned it might be pretty cold still at that time. I sure as heck don't want to sit outside and freeze, esp. with snow. I've had enough of that already living in a snow belt! I'd still like to go, but I wish it was maybe a month later on the schedule. I need a break from this mess of weather up here.

That has been our complaint from the begining about the weather, if the race was the end of March or first weekend in April it would be perfect. Bettter yet move the race to a Chase date in september or october. It is very cold in early March, I think there has been 3 years out of the 11 that the temperature exceeded 75 degrees. Not bad if the sun is out, but if it is cloudy and dreary it makes for a long day sitting in the stands. Vegas is a very cool experience though for racing, wish i was going again this year, but finances just won't work for it in the budget. I think as of last check with my buddy, the tickets still haven't sold either, which is kind of unusual being only about a month out.

Try going to Bristol the last week in March and sit out in the snow. LOL:eek:
