I just have a few questions for people about the F1 series .

Are the cars the same as IRL?

How many different manufacturers are there?

Are those tires treaded?

And much better drivers:) they can all jump in a rally car and drive it as well

I know Alesi owns a few rally cars...Salo too I believe.

Not sure any of them have rallied competitively though...

Coonhound...F1 cars are similar to IRL cars in that they are normally aspirated engines...the performance and complexity of each is vastly different.

That's about the end of the similarities between the two I'm afraid...the IRL and F1 are worlds apart...

There are 11 teams...each chassis is unique...although some teams share engine and gearbox technology. Jaquar and Arrows both use Cosworth power...Arrows on a customer basis. Sauber uses customer Ferrari engines.

Each F1 chassis is continually developed during the season...and oftentimes the car that finishes the season isn't at all the same car that began it. This year's Jaguar R3 for example is virtually a completely different car from what began the season...I think the only component that is the same is the tub (where the driver sits).

IRL cars on the other hand are basically bought right off the shelf...there are (I believe) 2 chassis manufacturers...and there will be 3 engine manufacturers next season. Its up to each team owner to broker some deal that will combine one of the chassis types with one of the 3 engine types. A much cheaper way to go racing...

F1 tires...Bridgestone and Michelin manufacture them...

They are 4 grooved "slick" tires. Only the intermediate (rain) tires and full wet tires are treaded.

Tire technology in F1 is far more advanced as well...
