Hi all,

Coming from the UK in Sept/Oct.

Quick question, is there much to do in Dover over the weekend? Apart from drink....lots.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Dan

Honestly not in Dover I think they have an airplane museum. Your only about an hour and a half from Philadelphia Lots of stuff there

Outside of bars/restaurants, tax free shopping, casino's & harness racing I'm not sure. Wish I could help more but we spend all our free time south of Dover @ Harrington.

There's Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square Pa if that's your kind of thing, about 45 minutes north of Dover. Bonus you can see my house from there.

@kkfan91, I am spending a lot of time traveling to from Philly these days. Please PM me some stuff to do while we're there. I'll be out there a couple more times next month.

Sure thing I'll get some stuff for you. All kinds of stuff or any particular interests?

And if you do like that kind of thing, Winterthur, the DuPont family's mansion, art museum, and gardens, are in the same area. Do not mistake the mansion for kkfan91's home.

An hour an a half or so will get you into southern New Jersey, one of the bird watching hotspots in all of North America.

I wish that was my house haha, I mean I've had the advantage of never having to pay to see the fireworks shows at Longwood in my life.

You've also got the Brandywine Battlefield around here site of the largest land battle of the American Revolution, and hey you guys won that one.

Hi Dan!

There are lots of restaurants and bars in the Dover area you could visit on race weekend, as well as a full service casino right on property! The beach is also within driving distance, as well as Philly and Wilmington, Del; both having the "larger city" offerings. Is there something in particular you're looking to do?

Good track to visit. There are several restaurants and bars within walking distance of the track. There's the casino too.

We fly into Washington/Philly (yet to be confirmed) on friday afternoon. We have a hotel in Dover booked for the weekend at a class rate 12 mins from the track. We normally do F1 visits once a year, but this year we have decided to go to nascar. We're only booked in for the race on sunday, but in between that, we have access to a car. I would like to see a bit of washington but tempted to do that morning/day as out flight home is 6pm.

Since I go to college in Dover, I can say there isn't really much to do. I'm golfing 90 percent of the time i'm not in class, so besides that there is the mall which isn't that great. I love Dover for NASCAR, but as city there is little to do.

Anybody on this board ever been to McGlynns Pub & Restaurant on State St in Dover either before or after the race? I've driven by many times leaving the track and always wanted to drop in but ultimately decided to get on with the long drive home. Recommended?
