Let's play a little. To help level the playing field, so to speak, all teh questions will be for the Modern Era, since 1972.

Recent:

How many first time Winston Cup winners were there last season and who were they?

duh indeed! LOL!

What is the record for most first time winners in a single season and which season was it?

Hint: There is a tie for this record. And it is recent.

OK, maybe that is a little tough for now. Or maybe nobodys playing.

Let's try this, Who currently holds the record for having won in the fewest starts?

I have Harvick at 3 starts, but Jamie is correct at two starts. Kevin's first win was at Atlanta, the 4th race of the season and his 3rd start.

Very Good!!

How many first time winners were there in 2001? There are two first time winner records in that year any idea what they might be?

so far so good.

One of the remaining names is a record setter for first time wins.

Those were the other two!

What is the record of one of those two names?

Record for not winning a race in like 400 starts? (I don't know the #)

Winner!!

Whatever the number was which I forget as well, it was the longest any winner went before capturing his first.

Of drivers currently on the tour full time, who was the first to get his first win?

Rudd and Bill both got their first win the same year. 1983

Go back about 4 more years.

Bingo, Terry the Ice Man .

Another driver got his first win that same year, know who it was?

the year Texas Terry got his first win!

Ok that should make this real easy , 1979.

Correct...

Now of late we know there have been several winners in their rookie season. In the modern era, who was the first driver to win in his rookie season?

Reckon this one is a bit tough too.

The driver drove only one year full time, the year he won the ROTY title. In the year prior to winning the title he started 3 races and started one race each year in the two years following his title run.

He finished 8th in the overall points standings in his rookie season as well.

Yep Earl Ross,

For extra credit, aside form winning his rookie season and for intents and purposes never running the circuit, what else was unique about Mr. Ross?
